Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Boyadjian.

Carla, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Our journey into raw feeding started when our first Great Dane arrived into our family. Brutus was about 9 months old when we started to notice a change in his coat. He went from a beautiful, mostly white, colored dog to a rusty red spotted dog within months. He began to have skin allergies all over his back that would lose the hair. That was when we realized we were having a reaction to something; and after a process of elimination, all fingers pointed at his food. At first we switched to numerous different high-end dry dog foods to see if we got any relief. Or what we thought we knew about “high quality” dry dog food.

He was never a real enthusiast about meal time, and nothing helped; no variation, no protein change, not grain-free, nothing. So after much research online, we were introduced to the idea of feeding a species appropriate diet. Which made sense, a meat eater should be eating… meat!

It only took a couple of weeks to see our dog heal. And then we really started to see the health changes we had read about. I finally understood what true benefits feeding a natural, raw diet did to a canine’s body, and knew I could never go back. Plus, I finally had a dog that WANTED to eat his food, rather than had to be co-erced daily into eating.

We have since never looked back. Raw Feeding Miami started and has been continuing to grow as more and more people start to learn what is truly in their pets food. Documentaries are starting to come out (Pet Fooled) and veterinarians are starting to listen to the research. And the movement towards feeding a healthy, unprocessed, true carnivore diet is slowly, but surely, starting to grow and spread amongst pet lovers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
With any business, there will always be struggles along the way. Keeping up with demand, and predicting trends is always something you have to take a risk on. Maintaining excellent customer service without jeopardizing your brand and what you stand for is something most business owners will face in their career at one point or another. Luckily, when you treat your customers right and you truly care about the business you are in and the animals involved, you can’t help but feel accomplished at the end of the day.

Raw Feeding Miami – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our company provides pet owners with a natural, healthy diet that aims to mimic the natural diet these carnivores would eat in the wild. Just like humans, who started to realize that processed fast foods like McDonalds was causing obesity and severe health issues, the pet food industry is being revolutionized in the same way. We sell our raw pet foods so that people can have healthy animals that don’t require as many vet visits as the average pet owner requires. We stand apart from other raw feeding companies by providing the highest quality meats available on the market, with the most variety to select from.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Personally, success is not defined by any set of goals being met or any amount of money being made. Success, to me, is being happy with what you are doing in your life and being passionate about how it affects other peoples lives. At the end of the day, receiving correspondence from our customers thanking us for what we do, and seeing the change in their pets, is the definition of success.
