Today we’d like to introduce you to Bettina Benizri.
Bettina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Bettina and I am the owner and head planner of Busy Bee’s Events. My journey is actually really interesting because “I didn’t always set my sights on becoming the next best event planner. I actually grew up thinking I was going to be the next best Law & Order attorney walking the streets of New York solving heinous crimes for innocent victims
In fact, I even attended a high school that had a specialized program for future attorneys. But once I started working in the field of law, I felt that my passion for my future profession lay elsewhere. And I just didn’t know where…at least not yet. And then it all became so clear the moment I volunteered to put together an event for an organization I was part of. It was a speed-dating event that had all of the bells and whistles of décor and ambiance and that just opened my eyes to the world of event planning.
Once I realized my life goal, I started working for the top wedding and event planners in the industry as well as maintaining a full time job as event coordinating manager for a well-known DJ company. I worked countless days and even late nights, and there wasn’t such a thing called a weekend, until I felt I was fully equipped with every skill a planner needed in order to build an amazing event.
Once I realized the moment that I not only excelled in every aspect of event planning and management, but also created an amazing customer environment, I was ready to go on my own and start my own company, Busy Bee’s Events.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly, I cannot complain about the road. Sure, it’s had its potholes and speed bumps, but without challenges, how else do we succeed? My top priority in my company, aside from planning amazing weddings and events, is customer service and making each and every one of my clients feel as if they are being taken care and enjoying a stress-free planning experience.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Busy Bee’s Events – what should we know?
Busy Bee’s Events is a five star full service event planning firm. We specialize in planning and coordinating all events from weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, social events, and event corporate events such as conferences. What separates us from the rest is that we not only provide a planner, we also provide: a personal shopper, a negotiator, an organizer, an accountant, a budget analyst, and even a friend all wonderfully wrapped into one Busy Bee.
Planning an event can be very stressful, especially in the South Florida area, often times I have a lot of clients that initially come to me saying that they don’t even know where to start, and that’s a perfect time for me to come in, and make a stressful approach become an enjoyable process. Not only is the process seemingly stress less, my approach is also thorough and always focused on exactly what the client is envisioning within budget.
One of our best skill sets as planners is negotiation, especially with pricing.
This is one of the top reasons why I explain to potential clients that it would be in their best interest to hire a planner because in the end you will save money and also, honestly, who wants to do any work on the day of their own event? That’s why you hire us!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Of course, my family, especially my mom and dad who have been always so supportive and caring and my amazing boyfriend, Martin. He has been my most supportive and level-headed guide. He is Busy Bee’s strongest cheerleader and strictest life coach and I couldn’t imagine a life without him. Also, our amazing Pomeranian named Peanut, he’s Busy Bee’s number one model.
Lastly, I am huge fan of “Shark Tank,” especially Barbara Corcoran. I read her book and quickly became a huge fan. She definitely has an interesting story from how she started to where she is today. I especially loved her story because it wasn’t an overnight success, there were so many twists and turns and curve balls, but despite those, she was able to overcome and actually turn those disadvantages to advantages, which is quite a feat. Her story is amazing and I highly recommend her book, “Shark Tales: How I Turned $1,000 Into a Billion Dollar Business,” and of course, the show, “Shark Tank.”
