Meet Bruny Anilus of Sweetbrunys in Pembroke Pines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruny Anilus.

Bruny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started baking at the age of 11 with my mom. From there on, I just kept practicing my baking. At the age of 16, I began to sell desserts such as brownies and cake jars from word of mouth. On December 2018, I created Sweetbrunys on Instagram. I met a lot of people and learned a lot about other people and ideas.

As of today, I am doing very well. I am selling desserts and still have another job. It has not been easy, but I know at the end it will pay off. I am very happy on how far my business has grown. Also, I have a lot of new things planned for the year 2021.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road for me in the beginning because there was a time when I first started my Instagram page that it was hard to get noticed. Also trying to get my followers up, going to school full time, and still had a job. But I didn’t let that stop me because I was determined to sell my desserts and still get an education.

Please tell us about Sweetbrunys.
I am a Baker and Cake Decorator. I specialize in cake decorating. Before cake decorating, I was known for baking brownies and cake jars. I am proud that I didn’t give up and I kept my business growing. What sets me apart from others is I get to know my customers. I am very open with them.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
One thing I would do differently is never doubting myself ever again. I also learned everything takes time. Never give up on your dreams.
