Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruno Garcia.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Bruno. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Two friends that have been involved in sports since childhood…from playing sports like soccer, football, and high school, to teaching bootcamps at parks, to coaching basketball and football leagues around the Miami Dade area. We decided to give back to our community by creating a training center that would cater to people from all ages and fitness levels. We had one goal in mind which was to have people incorporate fitness as part of their lives and not just do it as a short term way to lose weight. We found the CrossFit method along the way and we were sold with CrossFit’s mentality to target athletes and non-athletes alike. Today we are one of the longest running CrossFits in South Florida, and have also added other training methods to our gym such as powerlifting, Yoga, and Lean Cardio classes.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not an easy road. A few years ago, a lot of gyms began popping up all over Miami and it became a race to see who could offer the lowest prices. We stuck to our quality over quantity philosophy and were able to pull thru.
Please tell us about Da Factory CrossFit & Training Facility.
We are known for having a strong family atmosphere. Our coaches go out of their way to know every members’ names. We have activities at least once a month so our members from morning classes can get to know the members from the night classes. We want people to feel as if they are a part of a community. This way fitness becomes a part of their regular life.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I was born in Peru. I didn’t move to the states until I was 9 years old. My favorites childhood memory has to be coming to Disney World with my parents when I was 8 years old. That was a huge trip for me. I know my parents had to save a lot of money for that trip and discovering a new place together made it priceless.
