Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruce Frank.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Founded in 1906 by my grandfather Samuel Frank and continuing in his footsteps my father Al Frank we have continuously operate nickelodeons, motion picture theatres, bowling centers, restaurants and cafes’. Pioneers in “voice of theatre”, twin and multiplex cinemas, stadium seating, dine-in and multi-use entertainment destinations (MEC movie entertainment complex).
Has it been a smooth road?
We have always struggled as banks and lenders feared the changes to out of home experience since the creation of television back in the 50’s, cable, videos and now PVOD. We heard that sloped floors rendered the building unusable if Armageddon to the industry occurred, so banks didn’t wish to finance them. Staying relevant is what allows movie theatres to remain viable and strong.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Frank Entertainment Companies story. Tell us more about the business.
Frank Entertainment is about tradition, our legacy and commitment to entertaining the public at the highest level and most unique out of home options. We are most proud of always being leaders and innovators rather than followers. Stadium seating, multiplexing and of course the crown jewel CineBowl & Grille!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Shifts in the industry will be more dine in, more recliners, more alternative content and sporting events on giant screens and megawatts of sound, more experiential and more social.
