Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Taylor.
Brianna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started off as a makeup artist in my hometown of Philadelphia in 2015. I was doing faces for $20. That’s still so mind-blowing to me years later. Anyway, I built a strong clientele in my city. In 2016, I opened my own E-commerce store. At this time, I was working a full-time overnight job that required little to no attention and attending college full time. During my downtime at work, I taught myself the ins and outs of selling online. I found vendors, learned how to make a site, the whole nine.
At this time, there was no one I could turn to for advice on any of this like you could today. All I had was google. I launched my store. The name was TaylorMade Lashes. I sold primarily lash, however later down the line to started to sell illuminating drops. I’ still doing this while working full time, attending school full time, and doing makeup. Eventually, the stamina started to escape. I still get asked if I remember those days, I could never forget.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life is never a smooth road. No matter what route you decide to take it will never be easy. I’ve faced many struggles. Personal. Emotional. Financial. In 2014 I suffered from a stillbirth in my 5th month of my pregnancy. I wanted to give up. I was in the hospital and bedridden during finals week. I honestly wanted to drop out and forget about school altogether. I stayed positive though. I pushed through and worked things out.
In 2018, I decided to move to Florida. After building such a strong clientele in my hometown, that was a hard pill to swallow. I suffered financially, but I made things happen. I took the degree I wanted to give up on and re-entered the workforce. Thats how I was able to revamp and launch BTAYLOR BEAUTY. Do you see my point here? It’s never going to be easy, it’s all about your mindset and how you handle the obstacles that are thrown at you.
BTAYLOR BEAUTY – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
BTAYLOR BEAUTY is a cosmetics line for all. We are known for a smudge proof makeup products and lash packs. I am most proud of my relationship with my customers and supporters. I believe because I am also a personal brand, I get to connect with them on a different level. That’s my favorite part about everything, to be honest.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success when you inspire others. If no one wants to do what you’re doing, you didn’t do it right. Money, cars or clothes don’t make anyone successful to me.
