Today we’d like to introduce you to Breon Roundtree.
Breon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
On June 24, 2018, Owner Breon Roundtree launched his company Big Boy Snacks, located in Davie, Florida. Initially, Mr. Roundtree had a vision of his company only selling cake jars and producing popular snacks. It wasn’t until after he hit tumultuous times in his life, enduring homelessness and insufficient money, that Mr. Roundtree turned his sights on cake baking. After baking and designing his first cake, Breon realized his talent of artistry and baking, which then catapulted his business into a different direction. Mr. Roundtree began dedicating his time, while working a full-time job, to perfecting his craft of making designer life-like cakes.
In the last three years, Breon has built a sustainable clientele and retained consistent business. His accomplishments have grown extensively as he, has baked cakes for celebrity clients, had his cake appear briefly on the syndicated talk show “The Real” after baking for the artist/reality star Amara La Negra, improved his internal business structure, was provided opportunities to potentially participate in national TV shows, and became an incorporated business. Breon’s success is unrelenting. This Black-owned business caters to all people but never stays quiet when advocating on topics that polarize, and negatively affect the black community. Coupling his artistry and baking, Breon creates controversial cakes that stimulate conversation and bring recognition to highly complex and stimulating issues in our society. Future aspirations include opening up a business building for his company, and expanding his available products and business to other cities, and states.
Has it been a smooth road?
Like every upcoming business, I/we struggle to learn how to navigate owning your own business. Struggles come from internal and external sources. Learning business management, customer service, and expanding my craft is often a struggle. But with those struggles come reward. I’m constantly learning and growing not only as a businessman but as a person.

Big Boy Snacks is a business that specializes in decorative cakes and sweet treats. My company has started from the ground up. In the last three years, I have grown as a self-taught baker/businessman. I pride myself on making something special, memorable, and we can not forget tasty for all of my customers. We are certain on the quality taste of all of our cakes. I can confidently say that I have perfected internal and external beauty when it comes to my products. A lot of decorative cakes on the market now definitely check the box for the creation and physical aesthetics of their work but lets not forget the importance of how people feel when they take that first bite. I put time and effort into what I do and I want that to continuously be portrayed to all of my customers now and in the future.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Our city is talented, diverse, unrelenting, and vibrant. There is so much than can be discovered from the cities of Miami and Broward. I always want to remain a vessel in my community. Not only by maintaining my cake company but using my platform to build awareness for things in our community that need to be addressed and improved. I try to use my talent to expose and highlight the invasive and dividing topics within our community. Racial injustice, poverty, and politics are just a few topics that I try to give awareness to. Art, even within cake decorating, can be a catalyst for change.
