Today we’d like to introduce you to Bob Luptak.

Prior to opening the Gallery in 1999, Bob had been employed with Steinway & Sons in New York as Senior Manager of Sales and Marketing for nearly 20 years. “After leaving the firm, I knew I would continue my relationship with the Steinway Piano and that South Florida would be the site of my first storefront location.” Also, Bob was a music educator and performer. As a musician, he has performed in many jazz and show venues across the country as well as an arranger for many TV and radio commercials including performing jingles for the McDonald’s Corporation. Bob was an educator in the Chicago, Illinois School system. “I invite you and your family to visit the Steinway Piano Gallery or browse our site for more information about our fine pianos as well as our complete calendar of events”.
Has it been a smooth road?
Steinway offers 3 uniquely designed and crafted pianos at three different price points and this past March 5th celebrated 165 years handcrafting pianos in the USA, in Queens, New York. These 3 piano brands offer a piano for the student, the serious hobbyist and musical school and the ultimate performance piano, Steinway & Sons.
A few things make our business a challenge – of course, brick and mortar costs and cost of inventory. The cost associated with bringing clientele into our stores. Our prospective clientele is primarily made up of European, Asian and Latino ethnicity. The process and the discipline of learning an instrument is an important part of these ethnic groups culture and children’s resume. Not many Anglo Americans – seems we, Americans don’t have the interest or patience.
Pianos, of course, have complicated designs, expensive materials and require a significant labor cost to produce. And last for years. They are passed along to subsequent generations.
Our business also surrounds several other prospective groups: College, universities, concert halls, churches, schools, retirement centers, interior design firms, builders and developers.
Then, of course, there is the logistics of moving pianos to homes and various venues and providing high-quality technical and customer service. Steinway Piano Gallery provides all of these services to consumers, schools, concert halls and artists. Providing finely prepared pianos for concert pianists visiting our area venues. Steinway Piano Gallery has on hand pianos that are in constant use for performances at the Arsht, Broward and the Kravis Centers to name a few. And are chosen by over 95% of concert pianos artists worldwide.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Retailing today is a challenge no matter what industry, demonstrated by the numerous closing of brick and mortar stores throughout the country and the expansion of online buying. Not necessary for most products for buyers to touch and feel. And once identifying the specific product and model, the price competition comes into play.
Retailers are constantly watching various consumer trends. Anyone interested in getting into any business must have awareness of the trends and be mindful that the only constancy is change. However, a Steinway is a Steinway and there is nothing in the World like it. There will always be Steinway.
