Today we’d like to introduce you to Luciana Ferraz.
Luciana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My passion for healthy living and holistic practices started at my mid-teens. On my twenties, I adopted a cleaner diet, refrained from eating meat, coffee, sodas, and most processed foods. During that time I had a successful career in advertising and marketing working for global companies where the levels of stress were incredibly high. The more I was immersed in that world, the more I saw the need to stick to my personal Vedic practices and eventually share my message around one day.
In 2000, I moved to New York City and resigned from my job. I was practicing yoga, studying art, attending cooking classes and taking entrepreneurship courses at NYU all at the same time. It was my way to fulfill the different sides of my personality. The cold winters were really rough for my brazilian body and that is when I stumbled into Ayurveda. It was love at first site. Ayurveda had all the elements that I needed to find equilibrium at that time and I felt an urge to learn as much as I could about this amazing science.
I received my first yoga certification in 2003 when we moved back to Miami. Over the following years I continued my studies in yoga and met my teacher Shiva Rea, which was a great inspiration not only for yoga but for all Vedic studies including Ayurveda. Traveling all over the world (including India many times) was my way to connect with the true heritage of Yoga and Ayurveda. In 2010 I received my degree in Ayurvedic Health and Wellness Counselor from Sai Ayurvedic College and grew my business practice incorporating Yoga and Ayurveda as one holistic way to bring balance into life.
For a few years I went back to the corporate world and took a small break from my healing career. It was a fantastic experience to immerse again into the business world, learn social media skills and how the world is communicating today; however, that experience made me certain I had a different calling/dharma to fulfill in the world and I would use the tools I learned to spread my message around. I recall giving healthy tips to my co-workers, teaching pranayama at staff meetings, and watching many people around me living a very unbalanced life (including me). I decided to take another degree in Integrative Nutrition from IIN in NYC. For the second time around I left my job and found my company, Blueberry Bunch by Luciana Ferraz. For the last few years, I have been coaching clients in Ayurvedic health, healthy eating and how to achieve a balance that incorporates all aspects of their lives.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not a straight path from A to B. I had to plant seeds and prepare myself academically as well as embody what I wanted others to feel prior to starting my practice. There are no short cuts to be a healer. Said that, from the day I found Blueberry Bunch by Luciana Ferraz I have been extremely grateful for all the amazing opportunities that I have encountered and incredible people that I work every day.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Blueberry Bunch story. Tell us more about it.
My practice focus in Ayurveda (Science of Life) and Integrative Nutrition. Both disciplines look at all aspect of one’s life from nutrition, daily habits and routines, relationships, etc… Ayurveda includes yoga and nutrition as core principles when addressing people’s lifestyle changes. Therefore, utilizing various holistic tools that I learned over the year, I work with clients on addressing their main concerns and developing a unique plan that works with their individuality.
I am very proud that each person that comes into my office receives a personalized protocol and my full awareness and presence. I take time with my clients and celebrate their entire journey from obstacles to accomplishments.
The uniqueness of my work is that beyond the academic knowledge, that is necessary when working with Ayurveda, I have embodied my practices over many years and have studied with some of the best professionals, gurus and teachers in my field. Have experienced corporate America as well as a holistic lifestyle, gives me a greater understanding of what my clients challenges are and how to help them to overcome.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Following my dharma is what makes me successful. I love what I do, so even though is a job I am passionate and happy to work with my clients every day. That is transparent when people walk into my office. You can say, I am lucky to work with what I love! I also believe that when you are on the right path the doors open for you. You can call that luck too.
