Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Studenberg.
Beth, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I worked and traveled all over the world as a model. While living in Germany, I purchased my first camera and started playing around shooting my fellow model friends… I came to realize that I really loved photography and the moments I was capturing. I received amazing feedback and realized I had found my calling. I have not looked back since.
Over the past 20 years, I have been fortunate enough to work with clients such as Target, Khols, Tommy Hilfiger, Sunglass Hut, Jockey, and my work has been featured in magazines worldwide.
Has it been a smooth road?
We all encounter bumps in the road. For me life is about learning, growing and continuously evolving… I am super proud to have been part of the era of shooting film, using polaroids and models having real portfolios… like everyone I had to embrace the digital age or get left behind! Lol!
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am drawn to lifestyle photography where moments are loose and candid. I would like to think that I am known for bringing out the best in my subjects, pulling out their personalities and capturing young, fun, playful, effortless and carefree moments. While I appreciate fashion photography, that is not my thing, so I stick with what feels good for me.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
At present, I feel the future lies in young, up and coming smaller brands as they are thriving and changing the game. Corporate companies and retail giants are having to make changes as the bulk of retail business is now online.
I enjoy being a part of the creative process for each client I work with, helping to establish or re-create a brand’s identity. My father was an art director and had his own ad agency for many years, I learned so much from him and have been able to apply that knowledge to photography.
