Becky, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I had ordered meal plan delivery most of my post college life. In 2011, I decided to open my own paleo meal plan delivery service. I have always enjoyed working out in a group setting. And back in 2011, crossfit was at the top of my class list. There was a lot of buzz around the box about the paleo diet.
For years, I had been ordering a healthy meal delivery bit they did not offer the paleo diet. I wanted to eat a paleo diet like everyone else at the gym but I never have cooked…. I did not want to cook. I tried my best with the resources that I had. I was eating cold cuts, avocados and nuts. I was hungry. I listened in awe, as other gym members discussed how they spent hours making dairy free butternut squash lasagna or what their favorite paleo cookie recipe was. I couldn’t believe people had time or energy to cook this way. Wouldn’t it be easier if a company did paleo meals for you? Once that idea struck, there was no turning back. The meal plan service I used at the time did not cater to the paleo diet. At the the time in Miami no one did. Everyone at this gym wanted to eat paleo but no one had the time to do all the meal prep. I wanted to fill that need. The gym had an upcoming nutrition challenge. I thought a great time to launch would be this upcoming nutrition challenge but there was still one glaring problem… I don’t cook.
So, I made menus, got about 20 people to sign up and hired a cook. I used every resource I had. Back then, we were cooking out of a school cafeteria with 2 part-time employees. To start, I did all the deliveries, grocery shopping, customer service. Today, we offer the Paleo & Keto diet, we have 10 times as many clients, a commercial kitchen, many amazing employees and contract plenty of delivery drivers. We get to focus the majority of our time on what we love, keeping our clients happy and making great food.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been quite the adventure from the beginning to now. We have had to make up all the rules. There is no “Meal Delivery for Dummies” to use as a reference. Business management books only can take you far. One difficulty I have had to learn is when to say no. I am a people pleaser I will anything to make my clients. I have had to learn that some people with take advantage of this.

We are really excited about the Keto diet. We recently started offering it and people love it. This has been big change we used to only offer paleo, now we offer two diets. We don’t have any massive expansion plans. In my experience, when kitchens get too, big the quality suffers.
