Meet Beatrice E Rangel of AMLA Consulting Group Corporation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatrice E Rangel.

Beatrice E, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I entered business life at midcareer. I started my professional life as a public servant in Venezuela. In that country I served as Director for International Relations for the Council on Scientific and Technological Research. I also served as congresswoman representing the State of Miranda; General Secretary for the Ministry of Education and Chief of Staff to the President of Venezuela. In 1994 I moved to the US to work as chief strategist for the Cisneros Group of Companies. I left the company in 2004 when I created AMLA Consulting. AMLA initially focused on restructuring jobs and creation of corporate cultures that fully exploit the Shared Value approach to competitiveness. From 2007 through 2013 I took the restructuring job for Codere the Spanish gaming giant that had become a publicly traded company. My duty was to secure the development of a compliance culture within every operating unit at Codere. In 2014 I undertook the challenge of restructuring AMLA so as to focus on the creation of access to credit and technologies to economic activities that had yet to benefit of the technology wave. Over the last 14 years AMLA has had ups and downs and is now attempting to concentrate in the creation of access to credit and new technologies to small and medium sized farmers that engage in the production of organic food.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have found it difficult to compete with big consulting firms whose marketing muscle is too great. Personally I have also found gender discrimination.

The greatest challenge I have faced however lies in the difficulties that you encounter with clients who refuse to embrace change at the top of the corporation. Because this resistance percolates to the middle cadres and the rest of the organization making restructuring very difficult.

Another challenge is to convince those that need to use technology and finance to their benefit to do that. Frequently they fear both components of business success on account of their beliefs that they will be unable to operate these vehicles smoothly and fluently.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about AMLA Consulting Group Corporation – what should we know?
AMLA Consulting provides advisory services to:
a) companies that seek the expand operations through partnerships of acquisitions;
b) companies that seek to improve their competitive stand;
c) companies seeking to access trade finances platforms.

We are unique in the sense that we do not provide access to partnerships that merely expand current operations but those that have the potential to take our client to the next development stage and in particular those that help create and disseminate a corporate culture based upon collaboration.

We use the vehicle of trade finance to bring access to new technologies and capital to those business concerns that find it difficult to be considered by banking institutions.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
In the early stages of my entrepreneurial life Alan Stoga, the President of Zemmi Communications and VP for Kissinger associates was key in unveiling the secrets of handling a startup and seeking advisory engagements.

Currently the pillar of the new AMLA is William Laraque one of the top 20 world experts in trade finance.

I have also always relied on the advice of the chairman of the Cisneros Group for Companies’. Gustavo Cisneros
