Meet Barbara Jacques of Jacq’s Organics in Dania Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Jacques.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Barbara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m the founder of Jacq’s, a plant-based all natural bath, body, and skin care brand created for growing families. When James and I learned we were expecting our daughter, like most couples expecting their first child, we were elated to hear the news; however, I soon discovered that I had an ovarian tumor.

Determined to not allow the news to take our joy, we decided to live our life and stay positive. Excited about the birth of our new baby, I wanted to learn everything I could about caring for our bundle of joy and my growing tumor.

Driven by knowledge, I learned about many environmental toxins used in beauty and personal care products. I saw a need for products that were all natural, organic, family-friendly, environmentally safe, and moisturizing.

When my husband, James, saw my passion and drive to create bath products that didn’t contain harsh and toxic ingredients, he encouraged me to start Jacq’s, which was born the same year my daughter was born.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship isn’t for the faint of heart. Challenges for us, it has been capital and resources. But, we utilize the great resources provided by Miami by partnering with smart, resourceful individuals to overcome our challenges and exceed.

Please tell us about Jacq’s Organics.
Jacq’s is a beauty brand for that helps women slay naturally. We create vegan and organic skin products for all skin types and skin tones. We realize that beauty isn’t a one size fits all. We created a collection of products that allow users to mix and match our products to create the perfect skincare routine for their specific skin type.

We are most proud of working with local organic farmers to source ingredients. By working with local farmers, we can source ingredients locally, keep business in our city and reduce our carbon footprint.

What sets us apart is our mission. Our mission is to make organic skincare more accessible to everyone.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory are my summer family vacations to Haiti.

Swimming in the ocean, driving up a beautiful mountain side and seeing miles and miles of the blue Caribbean Sea.
