Today we’d like to introduce you to Arielle Francois.
Arielle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Arielle Francois. I am currently a senior in college in my undergraduate years studying criminal law. I was born and raised in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. I left Haiti in 2010 due to the devastating earthquake that took place that year. To briefly explain who I am, I can honestly say that growing up in Haiti made me the woman I am today. I might have left Haiti, but Haiti never really left me. My love for photography, culture, design, and art truly comes from my Haitian background. I blog here and there on my Instagram (ari.frcs), I have a YouTube channel (Arielle Francois) and a business known as AF Designs.
I have been on social media for as long as I can remember. I eventually adapted to the modern version of social media, where you could express yourself through pictures and aesthetics! My Instagram page has always effortlessly caught people’s attention. From my personality to my aesthetics, I always cared about presentation as an upcoming social media influencer and now as a businesswoman. Through all these years of being active on social media, I realized the numerous amount of opportunities that were out there for creative souls like me. Through learning about the algorithm of various social platforms, I understood that presentation was truly important. I got my creative side from my father, so designing social media content was always a breeze to me because ideas came to me so effortlessly. I realized then my hidden talent, which has continuously helped me for my personal Instagram, my business page and my YouTube channel. I decided that it would only make sense to combine my knowledge and creativity to help other young individuals like myself start the business/project of their dreams. Some people aren’t as creative (which is ok) or simply have an idea but don’t know how to actualize them.
My business, AF Designs, solves that problem for them. No sugar coating – I initially created AF Designs as a way to create a stream of income for myself as a college student. But to help other motivated and hustling individuals has been a blessing for me and something I truly enjoy! I offer a variety of services, such as logo making, business cards, social media promotional content and anything one’s business/project could possibly need. From businesses to blogs, to YouTube channels, I cater to hard-working men and women who also want more for themselves! My journey has had a lot of ups and downs, and even today, I face a handful amount of challenges. But I am a hard-working and ambitious black Haitian woman who firmly believes that nothing is impossible. I am looking forward to seeing how the rest of my story unfolds.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely NOT been a smooth road. From randomly moving to another country when I was just 11 years old to my father passing away two years later, and so much more, my life has had so many bumps in the way. However, I wouldn’t be the person I am without these bumps along the road. I came to the realization that challenges aren’t meant to stop you, but rather to push you forward even more! I learn the most THANKS to my struggle, and they have made me stronger and wiser. They have inspired me. I can’t say it’s been easy – but necessary? I think so, yes. If obstacles were meant to stop me, I would not be where I am right now.

What I am most proud of about my small business is the fact that I have learned everything by myself and that I’m able to say that I have partly contributed to the success of small brands. To make an impact on people’s lives is so important to me, and doing that through designing is such a blessing! What sets me apart from others is simply my creativity. Everyone is unique! When you see my work, you’ll know it was done by me! Standing out to me is truly a must.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me, is simply achieving any goal you set for yourself – big or small! This means that I am already successful. I have started my YouTube channel and AF Designs, which were once just goals of mine. If your plans and visions have been achieved, you are successful.
