Meet Anthony Travieso of Sight Supply in Coral Gables

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Travieso.

Alec and Anthony were college roommates. After graduation, Alec parted ways to Taiwan where he was an English teacher. There he discovered how affordable daily-wear contact lenses were. He started mailing them to Anthony, who then became a daily contact lenses wearer for the first time; Anthony would never go back to using the monthlies! It was more affordable for Anthony to wear the contact lenses Alec was mailing international, rather than buying them in the US. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The four big contact lenses players control more than 90% of the market. Consumer goods are shifting from the transaction economy to the subscription economy, but the eye care industry is still stuck in the 20th century. Nevertheless the contact lens industry is ripe for disruption! Our biggest challenge has been applying for licenses are being compliant with FDA regulations. We succeeded, however it’s interesting how these laws are put in place to keep competition away.

Sight Supply is a socially responsible, direct-to- consumer contact lens subscription brand.     I like the subscription-based model provided by Sight Supply, and I’d like to recommend these contact lenses to my friends.
