Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres Cuervo.
Andres, before we jump into specific questions about your music, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born a singer and I will die a singer, I never had a plan B. The journey is very complicated each time you think you get there, there’s a problem … I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder 5 years ago which stabilized me and now I think i’m on the right path. I am a pop-urban Colombian singer and I’m coming for the world. I study Kabbalah which helps me see the world in a very harmonious way.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s not an easy journey pursuing a music career. You get lost and you need to find yourself again. People don’t understand how important it is to be loved and respected for an artist.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
My essence is latin pop but once i was diagnosed with bipolar disorder i started exploring with all types of genre’s and let my self go. I explore reggae, rock, folk you’ll get to hear that diversity in my upcoming album Cuervo 2020. But if i had to define my music I am from Barranquilla which is on the coast of colombia where Shakira and Sofia Vergara are from..I like to have rhythm in my music and sounds from my roots like the accordion. I use a lot of sounds from my origins while also trying to remain international, so I am basically pop and am now experimenting a little with urban because i feel like it can open more doors for me and it’s very fun.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like the best of our city is the diversity of everything, culture, countries, music, art, Latin colors and sounds. What I like the least about our city is sometimes the competition between people of different cultures, sometimes discrimination between countries, or maybe not the same Oportunidades depending where we come from.
