Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Rebecca.
Amy, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
MUSIC, Born in Miami, the USA on November 21st, 1994, Amy Rebecca spent her childhood in the Dominican Republic & at the age of ten, she started taking music lessons. She comes from a family of musicians including notable Latin Grammy-winning members. One can say music just runs through her blood. There was no mistaking that she would pursue a musical career, and that’s when DJ Curvy was born.
Along with her background in music, she is well rounded in other areas such as health and fitness. In 2012, she discovered her passion for fitness. Amy’s always been a gym fanatic and started competing in bodybuilding at 18 years old. She became nationally qualified at the age of 18 she started her career in fitness modeling. In 2017, she competed and became the WBFF Beverly Hills overall Champion and was awarded her PRO status in the bikini category.
When she moved to Los Angeles, Amy was encouraged to model and act. She has been featured in music videos such as “El Anillo” by Jennifer Lopez, “Swap Meet” by Tyga, “Heroine” by Nick Monaco, and “In da bank” by Famous Dex. Amy also landed covers in notable magazines such as Playboy and FHM. She has been featured in MAXIM Magazine and Esquire Latin American several times. With her success grew, she became well known and it launched her as a big influential social media personality. Many brands and companies have thought her out for multiple campaigns and endorsement deals.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Unfortunately, the path to success is not a straight line. There is a lot of curveballs that life throws at you and might even question your journey. One of the struggles I’ve had was constant rejection. No one believed in me, my talent, or my ideas. The only person that believed in my vision was myself at the beginning. I never gave up, even after hundreds of rejections from castings or placing last in competitions.
Please tell us about your work.
I am an entertainer. Anywhere from deejaying, acting, comedy, model, and fitness. I am known for modeling, music, fitness, and traveling. I am proud to be able to break barriers for any person of any shape, size, background, religion into all aspects of entertainment, You do not have to stay in a typecast to breakthrough other fields. I am 5’2 curvy bodybuilder and just landed a major fashion magazine cover which is known to be reserved for long and thin fashion models. The world is truly your oyster and never let anyone take away your dreams.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory as a child would be watching the marvel and DC superhero films at the cinema in a small village in the Dominican Republic. I’ve always been fascinated with New York. I don’t know why I would play during the weekends at the mountain forest pretending to be in the big city as a news reporter or a superhero. I guess I wanted to be my hero in a concrete jungle that I now reside in.
