Today we’d like to introduce you to Amor Capdevila.
Amor, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
You + Life started as a concept of self-improvement. I wanted to open as many doors as I could in relation to holistic healing. Starting from within and working my way outward. In my time of research, watching videos, reading books, connecting with others who were on the same path, I soon realized that this was a collective concept that could help those around me, in a way, find themselves.
You + Life is exactly that, you plus your life; whatever that entails for YOUR happiness. I am here as a friend, a guide, a teacher and a student, searching for the true happiness that lives within us. I have now been hosting donation based Reiki circles, as well as providing private Reiki sessions and spiritual counseling. Through connection, we can heal everything.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think that anything good is never smooth sailing, the challenges make the journey much more insightful. But some of the challenges I have faced have been finding the right locations, having a large group of people leaving me shorthanded, finding constant topics to engage with, finding new techniques for everyone to have a unique experience everytime they come to a gathering.
You + Life – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
(Reiki is the universal energy in the universe that can be channeled from one person to another in order to help with stress, anxiety or any ailments. It is done by the Reiki practitioner placing their hands on different chakras).
Reiki at first was more so for my personal use. To allow myself to release, let go and relax. I soon found that so many of my friends and family would also benefit from this in their lives, and it was then that I knew I needed to share this with as many people as I could. I began doing small gatherings and inviting friends and friends of friends to just get together with the intention of relaxing and letting go.
Two years later, I am here hosting a Reiki circle every full moon and offering private sessions for those who desire more one on one time. These moments provide a safe space for you to unwind and be truthful with yourself. Allowing you to dig inside and figure out more who you are. The journey is never over, you are here to keep learning and teaching, so these gatherings provide a common area for those wanting a spiritual awakening.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Having a 19-year-old brother come to a circle with all his friends. Being so young and having that much clarity is beautiful. It was a moment that kind of threw me off my feet, knowing these teenage boys were being so open to showing support to one another but taking the time to ask themselves what they truly wanted.
