Meet Alfredo Patino of Tap 79 Gastropub

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alfredo Patino.

A hip gastropub opens in Miami’s MIMO district, off Biscayne Blvd on 79th St.

After 8 years of successfully pioneering in the Performing Arts District with bin 18, restauranteur and chef Alfredo, expands his epicurean gastronomy by merging modern Southern with elegant pub grub.

Just as with bin 18, guests can expect an atmosphere that welcomes lounging over drinks and foods for longer periods than what you expect from a ‘restaurant.’ The ambiance is set by the Americana décor, where “American Pickers” can go wild, with wood floors, crates and vintage light bulbs adorning the ceilings, and walls decorated by a local Wynwood artist. Soon the pub will also feature a Bocce court out in the back.

The gastropub will deliver honest, deeply satisfying cuisine, created in-house from the chef’s favorite recipes and include old favorites like his Food Network Cuban sandwich and arancini di riso (saffron risotto balls stuffed with fresh Buffalo mozzarella). Some new featured items; lamb burgers, his own blend of prime beef burgers, spicy cream rock shrimp, signature Mac & Cheese, farm-raised Mississippi frog legs, and Coca-Cola braised short ribs with grilled cheese, figs and arugula to mention a few.

In the bar area, Tap 79’s clientele will appreciate the 16 top craft beers plus 30 bottles of mostly microbrews from USA and Belgium. The Sports Bar will feature TVs while diners who prefer an entertainment-free area will have plenty of choice outdoors with the sea breeze. There will also be a reserved dining area with its own entrance, perfect for private parties and events.

They are proud to be part of the Upcoming Food scene on the 79 street corridor and a pioneer in the area

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Tap 79 Gastropub – what should we know?
Tap 79 will offer a robust craft beer selection with 8 beers on draft including Leffe, Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, Fat Tire and will offer an additional 22 beers by the bottle of mostly microbrews from USA and Belgium.

The menu will range from small bites to entrees, with just enough variety to suit the dining needs for any occasion. Features on the menu include house cured beef jerky, crispy mango habanero wings, truffle mac & cheese topped with chicharron shavings, house made Tap 79 burger, short ribs served over creamy polenta and a fresh catch of the day.

With a bar that seats up to 25 people, a private dining area and outdoor seating, the restaurant is fit for any dining occasion. The idea is to create a place for those who live in the area to grab a beer and bite to eat after work, or dine with a group of friends on a Saturday night.

Chef Alfredo has a vested interest in bringing good food to the area as he lives nearby and says, “The concept was created after driving home on 79th street many nights and not having a place to stop for a good beer and bite to eat. I always felt there was a culinary void in the area and with development of the Mimo and 79th street area on the horizon I felt I wanted to be involved in revitalizing the area. I opened in 18 when the performing arts district was merely nothing but an area with little development and a bad reputation for crime. I saw the potential in what the area could offer and knew there were plans to develop, 8 years later the area has completely changed and is now a very desirable location. I see the same vision for the 79th street causeway.”
