Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Triana.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Alan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a third generation mechanic running a shop in Miami. I guess it all started in 1966, when my grandfather Enrique Triana Sr., immigrated from Havana, Cuba to Miami, Florida. He was looking for a new start and a better life for his family, seeking the American Dream and leaving the politically oppressed Cuba, He headed north. Once here he began working odd jobs and saved enough money to start his own business. In 1973, he opened a small gas station/mechanic shop on the corner of 7 Ave. and NW 28 St. My father Enrique Triana Jr. worked with his father and brothers for a few years. In 1995, my father started ET Auto Repair Inc., a shop located at 711 nw 24 St. I was seven years old when he opened and basically grew up at the shop. I wanted to spend all my free time there. I have been working with my dad ever since. We have since moved to a brand new location. A state of the art facility located at 773 Nw. 21 Terrace.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road was rough in the beginning, my father opened up the shop while receiving chemo for throat cancer. He had smoked 3 packs of Malboro Reds for over 20 years. Luckily, he survived his battle with cancer. He worked hard and persevered. We have been here ever since.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Et Auto Repair story. Tell us more about the business.
Imports and domestics, electrical repairs, air conditioning, computer diagnostic, brakes, tune ups, oil changes, and general repair.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
New vehicle technologies are starting to emerge and many new needs will arrive. Most vehicles are equipped with push-start buttons. So keys will be a thing of the past. Almost everything is electronic now, so different repairs not common now will emerge as newer make cars age.
