Meet Adina Gould of Gould Vision in Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adina Gould.

Adina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am an Optometric Physician. I’m “Mommy” to my children, Sydney (11) and Aston (nine.) I’m “Wifey” to my husband, Justin Gould. Before I became Dr. Gould, I was Adina Setren, a Maryland girl who wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps and my mother’s wisdom. My dad retired from his Optometry practice three years ago but continues to support and mentor me. He often reminds me that I am “Practicing Optometry” and that there’s always room for improvement. My mother, a retired teacher, and businesswoman continues to shape my moral compass.

I am the founder of Gould Vision, a state-of-the-art boutique eye care practice on Miami Beach. Our services include Eye Exams, Emergency Visits, Contact Lens Fittings, Glasses, Pediatric Exams, Laser and Cataract Surgery Co-Management, and Medical Treatment of eye diseases such as Glaucoma, Conjunctivitis and Vitreous Floaters. I am committed to bringing the highest level of care and compassion to my patients. Along the way, Justin and I opened a fast-casual restaurant called Pizza Dude on Miami Beach. We are proud sponsors of the Little Lighthouse Foundation. I will be chairing our annual Halloween party this year. The money we raise is used to create programs benefiting underserved children and the families all across South Florida.

Hopes, dreams, and aspirations:
I hope to inspire young minds with the following mantras:
*To keep working hard despite any challenges.
* Hard work truly pays dividends.
*The journey is part of the reward.
*Once we achieve our goal, we have an obligation to teach and motivate others.
We should continue learning and “practicing” to be the best version of ourselves personally and professionally. For me, defining success features proficiency in my career, being a loving parent and giving back to the community.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
ADHD created a great challenge in my childhood. Later, it became the fuel to propel my drive to excel and to conquer my fears of failure. With the love and support of my devoted parents and success in ballet and sports, I persevered to become an Optometrist. It was not easy. School was challenging due to my ADHD. Fortunately, I was able to maximize my abilities despite these challenges. The bumpy road helped to develop my character and compassion to better treat and care for my patients. I strive to treat every patient’s individual needs and to make him, or her feel relaxed & informed while I diagnose and treat.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Gould Vision – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I feel a strong need to educate people on the importance of blue blockers when on digital devices. Screen time equals exposure to blue light. Blue light causes digital eyestrain, difficulty sleeping, and macular degeneration. Digital eyestrain leads to dry eye from staring at the screen & not blinking enough. Hopefully, in the future, blue blocker glasses will be as essential as sunglasses for eye protection.
