Meet Adi Dotan Zilberberg of Live Play Work Mia(=Miami).com @Gary Hennes Realtors in South Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adi Dotan Zilberberg.

Adi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
A little over twelves years ago, in 2004 I came to New York after graduating from the Faculty of Business Administration and Law at the University of Manchester in England. At first, I was lacking legal status and I was forced to work as a personal trainer in Manhattan. Fortunately, my Degree allowed me to join the business marketing and advertising world. It was not long after that I received the legal status which allowed me to stay and a secure a job in brand management working with clients like American-Express and other large well-known companies. I was fortunate enough to secure a job with a large company that required me to relocate to Miami. This company was very successful, generating more than $5M in annual revenue which resulted in the company being acquired by a larger corporation. Unfortunately, this resulted in my position being outsourced.

At a loss for what to do next with my career, a friend suggested I join him working in real estate. I was hesitant at first as I was used to a steady income and as most know, real estate is commission based. But he insisted, and to my surprise, I was able to close a number deals pretty quickly. I ended up selling a lot of houses to a well-known hedge fund firm named Blackstone. Over time and with the knowledge I acquired, I decided to specialize solely in Miami and the Miami Beach luxury market, focusing on luxury waterfront homes.

Has it been a smooth road?
Many agents tend to think that marketing is related to the product. However, I understand it’s more about communication. After all, there are plenty of agents and lots of apartments. So why come and work with me? It’s because I, Adi Zilberberg, bring my personality and my communication skills to the table. That’s the point that many do not understand, opting to focus on the product rather than the communication. Buying an apartment in many cases involves a lot of fear, excitement and the desire to be understood through the product you are selling. This is especially true in my market of luxury waterfront homes. Whoever does not understand this, and fails to address these needs, potentially misses out in a big way.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with live Play Work Mia(=Miami).com @Gary Hennes Realtors – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Today I identify as someone who sells his work rather than his success. I am focused on a target audience that wants to take calculated risks in real estate. Over time, I have learned and understood what my clients want. I give them what they are looking for without inundating them with information. I differentiate myself from other agents with precise marketing. I’m like a laser-guided missile; I do not waste anyone’s time.

Reliability and respect are the basis on which I do my job. In the absence of these, you have nothing. Some real estate agents have a problematic image. Unfortunately, there are not many agents who operate according to these values. Instead, their focus is on how I make more money right now, no matter at whose expense. It’s a bit of a plague actually. To me, success is a reflection of my values of credibility and respect.

I never forget where I came from in respect to where I am going. I wholeheartedly believe in giving back to my home country – Israel. An Israeli living outside Israel’s borders always remain Israeli and represents the country if he likes it or not. Therefore, it is important to act accordingly and remember one bad apple can spoil the bunch.

When I lived in New York, the fast pace of life in the city made me feel I must be better than others. There was something in the transition to Miami that allowed me to stop, reconnect with myself and once again work from a place of my own personal values. I am very aware of my strengths, but I do not presume to know everything. In areas I don’t understand, I choose to surround myself with smart people who are professionals in their areas of expertise. This way, everyone wins.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Miami today is going through a cultural Renaissance and at the same token offer the best quality of life (did I mention tax break and no income tax?) this is the place to be and those who think California is great, or anywhere else that might be the case but for someone who lived in the Middle East, New York and now Miami. It is heaven. And we should all be so lucky to live in a place such as that. Miami is also growing into its own identity. Miami is a relatively young baby, culturally.

Miami beaches are beautiful and pristine. The climate is amazing. The multicultural identity is extremely rich and rewarding. The culture is becoming. This city is easy to navigate. We’re not that big or crowded. We’re separated by one-degree and that creates intimacy. There’s so much more too: our foodie vibe; our physical beauty and sexiness; our basketball team; the nuances we’ve created in different neighborhoods; the cost-of-living; I could go on and on and on.

What I do not like. Miami time, It’s a thing. We natives can’t explain it and Miami transplants rarely accept it, but if you invite for a certain time, people will show up an hour later. With the appetizers. We may accept our bad habits, but visit another city like NYC and be reminded that punctuality can be oddly refreshing… especially at restaurants, where it doesn’t take a waitress 45 minutes to remember to bring your menus. Besides that, Miami is the best place to live.
