Matear Yerba Mate, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are Paola & Veronica, founders of Matear yerba mate, partners in business and life. We are both from Argentina, Buenos Aires & Misiones, and Miami brought us together. We met here in 2015, and about one year later Matear was born, right there in our backyard, picking some herbs from the garden, sharing some mates with fresh herbs. We were looking to do something together, that we were passionate about, something to share with our community, this amazing and diverse community that we have in South Florida. We love the tradition of yerba mate, the ritual of sharing, we are passionate about our heritage. To sip a revitalizing and delicious drink of yerba mate and herbs is to feel nature, it’s the gift of God. That brings together friends, family and strangers, connecting to their selves, to one another.
At the end of 2016, we had our first pop up at the Miami Flea Market organized by Prism creative group, which supports local business. Later on, we join different farmer’s markets in South Florida to then settle at a permanent location on weekends at The yellow green Farmer’s market ( Hollywood, FL ). We distribute to local stores from Kendall to West Palm. And we have our online store as well as an Amazon shop.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road, we’ve learned along the way, in every challenge that we face. There is so much to grow, we are passionate and keep pushing forward.
Please tell us about your business.
At Matear we make artisanal yerba mate blends with herbs, spices & flowers, we handcraft them in small batches, resulting in a gourmet & well balanced blend. We sourced the yerba mate from Argentina, we strive for the best quality ingredients, 100% organic and free of pesticides. Our products are gluten-free, vegan and not contain any preservatives. We are Locals, we craft our blends here in Miami, Florida.
We offer all the gear for the mate ritual, a selected variety of mate cups and straws, imported directly from Argentina, from very innovative brands as well as the classic artisanal mates, gourds, wood mates, and more. We also offer automates, thermos, containers for yerba and mate bags. We have a close relationship with our customers in the retail at the farmer market, as well as a wholesaler with the local’s stores that carry our products. And we try to do the same in our online store and Amazon shop, we are only a phone call or email away.
