Life & Work with Olivia Flynn of Coral Gables

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Flynn.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started with a genuine passion for telling stories—connecting with people and making moments feel special and LIVely. From a young age, I was drawn to media, naturally documenting my travels and experiences through visual storytelling. Over time, that passion grew into something more as people began reaching out, asking me to help bring their own stories and brands to life.

What began organically has now, five years later, evolved into OFM—Olivia Flynn Media—my content agency where I work with businesses across industries to translate their vision into meaningful, engaging content. I’ve always believed there’s an art to capturing a moment in a way that makes someone feel like they were there, even if they weren’t. In today’s fast-paced world of short-form content, that ability to evoke emotion quickly is everything. My background in documentary storytelling has been a huge influence—it’s taught me how to truly understand a person or brand’s mission, and then distill that into something powerful, even within just a few seconds.

My journey has been anything but linear. I studied Economics and East Asian Studies at McGill University in Montreal, where I simultaneously began working with local brands and large-scale events like Osheaga, the Grand Prix, and Igloofest. That early experience helped me build a portfolio that eventually allowed me to scale internationally, working with hotels and brands around the world.

In 2024, I moved to Miami and started from scratch again—but quickly built a network and client base that I’m incredibly proud of today. OFM has since grown into a team of talented creators, editors, and storytellers who all share the same vision for impactful, intentional content.

I’m still driven by that same passion I started with—but now, it’s backed by experience, a strong team, and a belief that storytelling, when done right, has the power to move people, shape brands, and create lasting impact.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve been fortunate that my journey has felt relatively smooth overall, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been storms or moments of uncertainty along the way. I think every path—especially a creative one—comes with its own set of challenges and unexpected turns.

What’s mattered most to me is the ability to keep moving forward, no matter what. There’s a lot of power in trusting the process and understanding that not everything will go exactly as planned—and that’s okay.

Adaptability has been everything. In this space, things are constantly evolving, and you have to be willing to shift, grow, and step into the unknown while staying grounded in your vision.

One of the biggest challenges has been building a team you can truly trust—finding people who align not just in skill, but in passion and energy. But those hurdles have been part of the growth. They’ve pushed me to be more intentional and to build something that’s not just successful, but meaningful.

At the end of the day, the smooth moments and the storms both serve a purpose—and you just have to keep going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve always described myself as a “professional dabbler” with an unwavering sense of passion. I tend to find things I’m deeply obsessed with—and then turn them into something meaningful. That curiosity and intensity have really shaped everything I do.

I hold a degree in Economics and Mandarin from McGill University, and I’m now completing my MFA at the University of Miami. While my academic background is diverse, once I discovered my love for storytelling and being on camera, there was no turning back.

Today, I’m the founder of OFM (Olivia Flynn Media), where I work as a director and producer, primarily in documentary storytelling, while also working as an anchor, host, and investigative journalist. I’ve built a career that allows me to live many different “lives,” all rooted in storytelling.

Outside of work, many of my passions fuel my creativity. Whether it’s traveling, freediving, diving with sharks, playing tennis, violin, or going to the symphony—I’m constantly seeking experiences that expand the way I see the world. I’m especially drawn to anything more metaphysical or thought-provoking, because it keeps my mind open and my creativity evolving. That flow of inspiration helps me bring fresh, original ideas into the media space.

Right now, I’m most proud of my upcoming documentary SILFRA, releasing in May 2026. It was filmed in Iceland within the tectonic plate fissure, and tells the story of the One Water system—from glaciers to rivers to waterfalls—ultimately converging in this extraordinary place where humans can literally dive between two continents. It’s a project that combines everything I care about: storytelling, nature, and a deeper connection to our planet.

What sets me apart is my energy and perspective. I lead with genuine enthusiasm for the world and for people—I love bringing others together and creating something bigger than any one individual. I’m also deeply solution-oriented. In an industry that can be unpredictable, I focus on possibility, creativity, and forward movement—and that mindset has been a huge driver of my growth.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that might surprise people is how much of my life exists outside of media and storytelling. I speak English, French, and Spanish, and I’m currently pursuing Mandarin, Hebrew, and Arabic—I’ve always been fascinated by language and the way it shapes how we connect with different cultures and perspectives.

I also have a strong athletic background. I played collegiate basketball as a point guard and competed at the provincial level in lacrosse as a midfielder in Canada. That experience really shaped my mindset—discipline, teamwork, and staying calm under pressure are things I carry into my work every day.
