Hi Odette, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Odette Fernandez Lopez, and I am the owner and photographer at Odette Photo+Art.
I taught English in Cuba for nine years, but after moving to the United States, I wanted to pursue a different career. My photography hobby quickly became my passion and my business.
Today, I am a Miami portrait photographer specializing in brand photography and photo restorations. I love capturing the true essence of people through my photographs in a timeless, authentic, and storytelling way.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life can be full of challenges and uncertainties. My journey has been challenging because I needed a formal business education. However, I have made it my mission to educate myself about the business world and have spent countless hours doing so.
I still have so much to learn, but despite the difficulties, I see each setback as an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. I have learned valuable lessons that have contributed to my personal and professional development. Ultimately, these challenges have helped me build a solid foundation that will serve me well in the future.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been a portrait photographer for six years and have enjoyed every moment. My forte is brand photography, and I have worked with very successful entrepreneurs and thought leaders. In addition to personal brand photography, I also offer photo restoration services.
Four years ago, I started doing photo restorations when a friend asked me to restore her grandmother’s photos, which were the only ones the family had of her. That experience sparked my passion for restoring family heirlooms. I take pride in my work, which is more than just a job: it is a meaningful artistic journey. I am committed to preserving people’s memories and the stories behind them. Some of the photos I have restored were taken more than a hundred years ago. What an honor to bring them back to life!

I feel incredibly fortunate in both my personal and professional life.
My loving family and supportive friends have always encouraged and inspired me. Furthermore, I have the privilege of pursuing my passion daily as my career. I have had the opportunity to meet and photograph some exceptional individuals, including entrepreneurs, CEOs, and small business owners, and help them take their professional image to the next level.
However, luck is not a mere coincidence. It’s a combination of hard work, dedication, and our choices. While good luck can open doors, we must take advantage of those opportunities and put in the effort to achieve our goals.
