Life & Work with Jade Love of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Love

Hi Jade , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a 25 yr old professional signed model. At 16 I created a portfolio with the little resources I did have at the time. I was scouted at 17, I signed my first contract at 18 and started traveling the world immediately for campaigns & high fashion jobs. I’ve been signed in Miami, nyc, London & Cape Town Africa. I’ve worked with a lot of major brands like Nike, H&M, ASOS, finish line, dolce & gabanna , Balmain, I’ve been on vogue 3 times. I’ve had a pretty stellar career, Covid did change the industry a lot. I took a break, switched agencies 2 years ago & I have been flourishing with Wilhelmina Miami

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The fashion industry is already a pretty big monster to conquer. When I started I was young, naive & broke, just like every other 18 yr old, but it was especially hard for me at the time because I didn’t have a solid foundation of support outside of my mother agent doing the best she could. So just navigating such a difficult journey without family help did make things 10x harder for me. Also Being a model requires real confidence because we get constantly critiqued by everyone, dropped from big agencies, released for big jobs last minute, constantly having to stay active on social media even when my mental health isn’t great is probably my least favorite things about this journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I wish I could just call myself a model & be done with it but I’m a multifaceted person. I am an artist of many mediums. I sing, rap, write music, paint, & dabble in creative direction. I can’t say I’m more proud of any options. I love every creative part of me that allows me to deep dive into my passions. Earlier in my career I can honestly say I was modeling to survive, it was how I fed myself so I made it the #1 priority in my life. I Missed plenty holidays & birthdays. It was almost impossible for me to pursue modeling & music at the the same time. But now I am more balanced in life & finally releasing music on my platforms, especially TikTok so check me out @realjadelove

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe I am a very “lucky” person. I call it blessed & highly favored. A lot of experienced women, older woman have told me their stories of struggling to get signed, to even get recognized. I had absolutely 0 pushback from my mother agent. The day she met me she saw the potential & immediately put me to work. Of course I still had to work hard. But my first 2 years working I was able to check some really big goals off my bucket list & I was stapled all over the world.
