Exploring Life & Business with Unni Greene of UnniFit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Unni Greene

We sat down with Unni and this is what we learned.
Unni
Greene is a remarkable woman who has achieved great success in multiple fields. Born and raised in Sweden, Unni was a competitive figure skater before moving to the United States to attend the University of Miami, where she graduated in 1985. While in college and after graduation, Unni worked in the fitness industry teaching aerobics and pre and postnatal exercise classes.

Despite the demands of raising four children while working in finance, Unni continued to prioritize her own health and fitness. Following her divorce in 2009, she reevaluated her life and decided to fully pursue her passion for fitness once again. Unni became a personal trainer and nutritionist, and in 2011, she founded her own gym, SoMi Fitness.

With Unni’s hard work and leadership, SoMi Fitness grew into a well respected business, which her then partner forced her out of. Unfortunately, without Unni, that business soon failed.
Today, Unni is an independent trainer, health coach, online trainer, nutritionist, and menopause specialist. She is a sought after public speaker, and a published author, as well as a fitness and health influencer, Her dedication to helping others achieve their health and fitness goals is an inspiration to all who know her. We can’t wait to see what Unni will accomplish next!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Going through a divorce can be an incredibly difficult and emotional experience, especially when you are also juggling the responsibilities of being a mother of four and running a business. It takes a lot of strength and determination to navigate through these challenges and reinvent yourself in the process.

As I worked to rebuild my life, it’s was very difficult to prioritize self-care and make time for activities that brought me joy and recovery. It was ultimately the demands of always putting the business as well as others first that lead me to reexamine my own life and decide to make changes yet again.

I was also inventing recipes for healthy baked goods and meals to help my clients have access to healthy snacks as well as supplementing my income. But getting up at 3:30 AM to bake, before going to work t 5:30 AM until sometime 8:00 PM, eventually took a huge toll.

Overall, reinventing myself after a divorce while juggling the responsibilities of motherhood, business ownership, training others and healthy living takes a lot of hard work and perseverance. But by staying focused on my goals and having the understanding of family and friends you can achieve a certain level of success.
