Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Arce.
Samantha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Samantha Arce Photography as a hobby when my grandmother Maria Julia passed away in Jan 2018. The lack of images at her funeral only made me feel we need to create memories in our family, she would’ve loved the album we’ve made. After some time, I desired to learn the simple steps of operating manual mode on my Canon. Oh, the wonders I discovered. In October 2020, I hosted my first mini session for families at the cutest park near my home, and can you believe I was fully booked? Next was a Christmas mini session, fully booked again. By January 2021, I’d fallen in love with Maternity and Fine art and the passion and desire just grew and grew. Here we are in 2022 I’ve opened up my LLC. I decided I will be my own boss and bring memories with a touch of Goddess to each image. For each project I take on, I spend the time to make my clients feel like they are all beautiful no matter what stage they are in with their bodies. My goal is to create forever memories, so why not add some art and creativity?
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
SMOOTH ROAD! Heck no! So many new business obstacles, from inventory, to finance and making a proper profit. I’m learning the business side of things. I want to add that I’m a mother to 4 beautiful children. They are my priority. The biggest struggle is bringing work home when it’s family time. I feel as if when you are your own boss you work more than 40hr a week. Time management has definitely brought its struggles along the way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Hi, my name is Samantha Arce and I’m the owner of Samantha Arce Photography, I specialize in fine art Maternity, but I also shoot children, family, Self-Love-Boudoir, and Mommy and Me. I’m known for bringing out this level of comfort with all my ladies to make them feel beyond important in our time together as women we take on so many seasons of our bodies and I enjoy embracing all stages. Maternity is what I’m best at, but I just naturally enjoy taking images of all families. I’m most proud of my bonds with my clients. I’m a crier, and I know photography can be an investment for families when discussing our options and so on. I’m most proud of being a Latina woman starting her own business with something I love and am truly passionate about.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My best advice is to truly get out there and seize every moment. Boundaries are important and find a mentor that truly has the heart to pour into your cup. knowing what exactly I wanted to bring to my business I notice an international photographer was hosting a 1:1 mentorship, I loved her work and her personality, and I took advantage of the opportunity and ran with it.
