Today we’d like to introduce you to Miriam Soler Ramos
Hi Miriam, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My professional story started at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office which was the best training ground for a young lawyer seeking to do trial work. With that experience in tow, I spent nearly a decade at the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics & Public Trust, investigating and enforcing local ethics codes countywide. The experience and tools gained in both of these agencies, opened the door for me to serve as Deputy City Attorney of the City of Coral Gables and ultimately as City Attorney – a tremendous honor and privilege. Now, I have a pleasure of working at Holland & Knight, an exceptional international law firm that has allowed me to build a robust practice in the areas of land use & zoning, local government procurement, and local government ethics.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No road is perfectly smooth, but I have been fortunate to have had a relatively smooth career path, largely due to sound advice from committed mentors and the courage to take calculated risks when opportunities have presented themselves.
As you know, we’re big fans of Holland and Knight LLP. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

Our interdisciplinary approach ensures that you have access to the lawyers with the most appropriate experience. Responsiveness is the cornerstone of our client-focused culture. Our approach is open and direct. Integration – of our experience, industry knowledge and geographical presence – is a key part of our success. Technology ties it all together, providing seamless connectivity between our attorneys and you.
Personally, I am a partner at Holland & Knight practicing in the areas of land use and zoning, local government procurement, and local government ethics. I represent developers, property owners, government entities, businesses seeking to do business with the government and public and private individuals seeking ethics counsel and/or representation. I enjoy a unique perspective gained from over two decades of government experience, which allows me to provide client with valuable insight to help accomplish their goals. I am also board certified by the Florida Bar in City, County, and Local Government which includes expertise in sovereign immunity, procurement/contracts, land use and zoning, practicing before local governmental bodies, sunshine and public records law, and ethics.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I am passionate about community involvement and proudly serve on The Friends of The Underline Board of Directors and on the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida Board of Directors. A very proud double Cane, I am also Vice President of Activities for the University of Miami Law School Alumni Association Board of Directors. Finally, I believe strongly in bar service and serve on several Florida Bar committees.
