Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricky Cisneros
Hi Ricky , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
By way of introduction, my name is Ricardo (“Ricky C”) Cisneros. Born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Miami, Florida, my family came to the United States of America from Ecuador to make a better life for themselves, myself and my older brother.
My father, Segundo Cisneros, who had a respectful musical career, would tour with a well-known Ecuadorian artist Julio Jaramillo. He also recorded several songs with music composer Juan Navarrete and one of his songs titled “Uno Mas” was recorded by Mexican artist, Alejandro Fernandez. In sum, my whole childhood through my adolescence, I’d watch my father perform on live TV shows, concerts, and festivals, and just like many young boys who look up to their fathers, I knew one day I wanted to be just like him.
From 1997 through 2001, my father took the role as my manager. I toured throughout North America, South America, and Europe. I opened up for artists like Charlie Zaa and Juanes. These were memorable years for me. In June 2021, my musical career came to a halt due to my father being diagnosed with cancer.
Unfortunately, as a result of my father’s diagnosis, in September of 2006, my father passed away, this being one of the most painstaking moments of my life.
Using the pain of my father’s passing as fuel, in September of 2008, I finally signed a recording contract with Universal Music Latino/Machete Music. I was able to have the opportunity to release my first single with a major label. My single was called “Otro Amor”, which charted #10 on the Latin Billboards in June of 2011.
Meanwhile, I was advancing in my music career, truthfully, my personal life was crumbling. From around 2011 through 2018, I dealt with many personal internal obstacles. For the second time, I decided it was time to again put my music career on hold, I began to focus on my internal health, mental and spiritual well-being. Though these years were tough, I had my mother Anabel and my brother Diego who were always there for me.
On the night of September 30, 2018, I met the love of my life, my wife Stephanie Serrano-Cisneros. She has been a breath of fresh air and has purified my heart and soul. She’s one of the main reasons why I decided to have the courage to revive my musical career.
In 2019, my twin sons were born, and I became a father. This was truly one of the happiest moments of my life. Together with my wife, we have 4 amazing boys, Caleb, Noah, Josiah, and Ricky jr.
From about 2020 through the current year, God along with a lot of persistence and determination has given me the opportunity to work with several great artists, among them, Luar La L, Jamby El Favo, Jacob Forever, Reykon, Edward Maya, Cornetto, Joniel, Denom, La Fortaleza. As a music producer, I have been able to reach 90 million lifetime streams.
Set to be released this fall on 2024, I worked on a collaboration with another great artist, Grammy nominee, Vikina and Latin Billboard Chart topper DJ/producer Alvin Anthony, titled “Show and Tell”. This song will be on Vikina’s upcoming album, which will be released through Pitbull’s label, Mr. 305 Inc.
I am definitely looking forward to 2025, and I can certainty see professional growth on the horizon.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. It has been a rough road. I’ve faced so many obstacles but along the way, I’ve stayed persistent to my goals. Keeping a positive attitude is the key.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a music producer. I’m proud of my musical projects to chart on the Latin Billboards charts. I’m proud of being a father, a loving husband, a loving son, a loving brother, a loving uncle, and an amazing friend. My family is the nucleus of my life. What sets me apart from others? I mean, we’re all human and we all have qualities and inequalities that make us different from each other. What I can say about myself is that I’m not perfect and I have made mistakes in my life. One thing for sure is that those people who truly know me, know that I am very humble, loyal, and dedicated with everyone I work with.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
No matter how hard the road gets, stay focused on your vision. Believe in yourself because there will be ups and downs along the way. Your greatest possessions are your song catalog, your work ethics, and most importantly, your family. I truly want to take this time to thank Jesus Christ my savior for always being there for me throughout all my obstacles. I couldn’t have done any of this without you, Jesus.
