Conversations with the Inspiring Sacha Medici

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sacha Medici.

Sacha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I guess you could say my “social media” journey started many years ago and has had so many handles up until @sachasteph_! Ever since I was young, I was always into taking pictures. In high school, I was the person who always had a camera on her at all times and took pictures of everything, something I got from my father who used to document my whole life as a child including trips to Publix! In 2013, I started college and graduated with a degree in communications with a minor in social media marketing. I realized the power of social media and how much of a tool it was. That realization led me to create my own website www.sachamedici.com and talk about my life, my deepest thoughts, and my struggles. Three years ago, my mom passed away and it was the biggest turning point in my life. On my blog, I started documenting how I felt about the situation and how I was doing. I never did it for anyone else but myself but figured instead of writing in my journal, I could use it as an opportunity to show others that we all struggle and maybe have others relate. I started using my Instagram to promote it and was happy to see that there was some success to it, even if it was just a little. Eventually, I started to focus more on my Instagram account altogether and tried to build my following and my “brand” by reaching out to others and building relationships. It was interesting to build friendships and bonds with people from all around the country who I had never met before! The account has slowly but surely been building and it has honestly been so fun to play around with. Some people say that social media, specifically Instagram, is a waste of time but it just depends on what you enjoy! Instagram has been a tool that has opened up many doors, including this interview, and I’m predicting 2019 will be a year full of doors opening!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been an uphill battle, definitely. The vulnerability you have to be okay with having is sometimes intimidating and at times something I still struggle with. Something I’ve learned though, and this is something I always like to say, is to do what makes YOU happy. Go on the journey for yourself, not anyone else. If you have content you love, don’t be afraid to put it out because you’re afraid of being judged or you’re thinking about what everyone ELSE is thinking! Everyone has a different path so this one could be yours! Give it a chance. You never know.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into your business story. Tell us more about it.
Honestly, I hate answering this question! Mostly because I don’t know how to answer it, lol, my account is really just me… when people ask me what my niche is, I guess it’s considered lifestyle, but really it’s just my life! Things that make me happy, an insight into my day to day, my dog, my boyfriend, my friends… it just makes me happy to share these things because I want to make other people laugh the way I did or see new things they might not have seen before or made them smile. I think that’s what sets me apart- I want to share all the emotions and vulnerability!

What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
Man being a woman is so hard! It truly is, and any woman that doesn’t say that is lying! Being a woman is hard BUT it is so rewarding. That silent power that we have is just so impressive! Between the way our minds think, the way our hearts feel, what our bodies can do, and the strength that we have… that is what makes me believe in women, stand up for women, and fight for them! As women, we should be proud and we should never let anyone diminish our strength!
