Today we’d like to introduce you to Laure and Laurie Saint-Far.
Laure and Laurie, please share your story with us.
We are style and lifestyle bloggers, identical twins (Laure and Laurie) born and raised in Haiti. Growing up, we both spent an incredible amount of time playing around in our closet and to this day, we still do. We are also recent college graduates. Upon graduating college, we wanted to dig deep into our creative side and that’s where the idea to start a blog came from. We got ourselves a camera and went to work having no idea what we were getting ourselves into. As our blog grew, so did we.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Most people do not realize the hard work that goes into starting a blog. Creating content for an online audience is hard work. Creating content is one thing but making sure it’s good quality content and it’s being seen is another thing. One of the biggest struggles when starting a blog is creating content in the beginning and feeling like no one is paying attention. This is how a lot of people get discouraged. Also, starting off as a blogger, you wear many hats. For example, not only do we write our blog posts, but we also shoot our own pictures, It can be very overwhelming to balance everything while having full-time jobs. After working all day, coming home, picking up a camera and shooting lookbooks is not always easy. That is why our number one advice for anyone starting a blog is to make sure you do it because it’s something you really enjoy. Your love for what you do is what’s going to keep you going when you feel like giving up. Also, another advice for women starting a blog or start anything really is to just start, keep going, and learn learn learn.
What should we know about LAURELAURIE.COM? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We show women how they can wear pieces in a variety of ways. For us, looking stylish is not always about spending tons of money, we show our readers how they can look their best and not spend a fortune. Natural hair is also a part of what we blog about. We show women different ways they can style and manage their natural hair.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
Women are always being underestimated. They are often not given the same opportunity. That is why it is important for women to uplift each other and support one another for they face similar challenges every day.
