Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Vignale.
Kim, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a first generation Cambodian, born and raised in Rhode Island but now living in sunny South Florida!
My husband and I decided to move to Florida for better job opportunities and to get away from the New England winters. Florida was a foreign land to me since all I knew was Rhode Island; my family and friends are all still there. I turned to social media to explore my surroundings and meet new people. I got into writing by using Yelp and I became an avid Yelper documenting my explorations. This sparked a fire inside me to pursue creative writing and content creation. I work in an office during the day but needed to a hobby to unleash my creative side, so I got into blogging and photography.
I’m a foodie looking for the best eats and drinks in South Florida and beyond. I like to discover different restaurants, gyms, parks, (any type of establishment really) and share my thoughts about it. I love exploring and trying new things; life is all about adventure! I’m a traveler, eater, writer, cross-fitter, and love meeting new people. I wanted to document my experience on this earth and share it with the world. Whether it’s about food, drinks, fitness, travel, or lifestyle, I’m looking forward to sharing my take with others.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I started this as a hobby and a creative outlet. So, at first, I kind of just went with the flow. Doing what I love, photography, food, writing, and combining those together. The biggest struggle was being consistent, producing content, and getting my name out there. My advice to other women would be, to keep on doing it, even if you want to give up. Also, connect with others and be inspired. I loved meeting other like-minded people working towards the same goals. They’ve always been a source of inspiration!
What should we know about Kimbodian Speaks? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I write blog posts about food, fitness, lifestyle, and travel. I also write reviews for products and services. I love managing my social media accounts and creating content. Whether it be taking pictures of food & products or videos of my workouts. I have a passion for sharing my thoughts and views to the world. I enjoy engaging with my followers and collaborating with brands and other influencers.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
A book that’s changed my outlook on interacting with people is “Verbal Judo: The Gentle Art of Persuasion” by George J. Thompson.
It’s taught me how to diffuse issues, becoming aware of the big picture, and be empathetic. So, essentially, this book has taught me to be better at customers service. If a person is irrate, I’ve learned tips on how to calm them down and turn that confrontation into a positive situation.
