Conversations with the Inspiring Devin Strebler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Strebler.

Devin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out doing nails as a hobby, I hated all subjects in school besides art. I always knew that art was what I wanted to do. I wanted to offer something in this area that no one does! I always practiced painting designs on my friends at sleepovers and decided to turn it into a career! I started doing nails 3 years ago and I’m in love with what I do. It never feels like work when you love what you do! I literally get to paint my childhood Disney memories on nails! I almost gave up in this industry in the beginning so many times, but I’m glad I didn’t. I’d love to do tattooing in the future as well.❤️

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles I faced along the way we’re getting clients in the door. Since we are a hidden salon, by appointment only, I really had to rely on social media and then word of mouth after that to promote my work. My advice is to never give up, offer promo deals and specials, in the beginning, to get your work on as many hands as you can! Create a unique Instagram and Facebook and make a name for yourself! 😊

What should we know about Nailz By Dev? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in hand painted gel nail art, acrylics, gel extensions, gel manis, etc.

I’m known for my cartoon-styled nails and childhood memories painted on nails. I can look at almost anything and duplicate it onto nails! I think what sets me apart is the type of nail art and style I bring to this industry.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I think women can do whatever they put their mind to! I don’t listen to the media.
