Community Highlights: Meet Kendrick Palmer of KDP Global Enterprises, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendrick Palmer.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Honestly, my story starts with burnout.

After 20+ years moving through corporate America — American Airlines, Citrix Systems, Interplex Sunbelt — I hit a wall. Not because I stopped caring about the work, but because I was exhausted by the environment around it. Failed leadership. Taking direction from people less qualified than me. Watching good ideas get buried under bad management. It wore on me.

So I made a decision. Instead of waiting for someone else to get it right, I’d build something myself — on my terms, with my standards.
That’s how KDP Global Enterprises was born. I’m based in Hollywood, Florida, and what I built is a federal logistics prime contractor that coordinates transportation, freight, port services, and supply chain solutions for U.S. government agencies.

The model is lean and deliberate — I’m not trying to be everything to everyone. I’m focused on executing at a high level in a space I know deeply.

Twenty-plus years across aviation, manufacturing, and distribution gave me a foundation most people in this space don’t have. And the experiences — good and bad — taught me exactly what elite execution looks like and what excuses look like.

Today, KDP holds a Prime Contract with the U.S. Navy through NAVSUP/NAVSEA. We’re growing. And the standard hasn’t changed since day one: Elite is the Standard.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building KDP Global Enterprises has been more like navigating through fog than following a clear map.

One of the biggest challenges has been breaking into federal contracting as a new company without past performance. Even with years of hands-on experience in logistics and warehousing across the private sector, you quickly realize that experience alone doesn’t open doors — credibility does. So I’ve had to build that credibility from the ground up through persistence, partnerships, and constant outreach.

Another major obstacle has been operating with limited capital while pursuing opportunities that often require upfront resources. I’ve had to be extremely strategic, building an asset-light model and leveraging relationships instead of relying on heavy infrastructure.
There’s also the complexity of the federal contracting ecosystem itself — the platforms, the compliance requirements, the terminology. A lot of this has been self-taught, figuring things out in real time.

On a personal level, I’ve also been managing a serious health condition while building the business. That experience has changed my perspective. It’s forced me to focus on what truly matters, move with urgency, and stay mentally strong even when things aren’t going my way.

If anything, the challenges have sharpened me. They’ve made me more disciplined, more creative, and more determined to build something that lasts. I’m still early in the journey, but I don’t regret a single hard day. Every obstacle has been part of the foundation.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about KDP Global Enterprises, LLC?
KDP Global Enterprises is a federal logistics prime contractor based in Hollywood, Florida. We specialize in coordinating transportation, freight, port services, and supply chain solutions for U.S. government agencies — spanning maritime, air, and ground operations.

What sets KDP apart is the model itself. We’re intentionally asset-light, which means we move fast, stay flexible, and aren’t weighed down by overhead. Instead of owning everything, we’ve built a network of vetted, specialized partners that we coordinate with precision — delivering enterprise-level logistics execution without the bureaucratic drag.

We currently hold a Prime Contract with the U.S. Navy through NAVSUP/NAVSEA, which is a meaningful validation for a company at our stage. Every contract we pursue and every proposal we submit is held to the same internal standard: elite execution, no excuses.

What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is what the tagline actually means in practice. “Elite is the Standard” isn’t marketing language — it’s the filter we apply to every decision, every partner, every deliverable. In federal contracting, reputation is everything. Once you cut a corner, you don’t get to uncut it.

KDP is built for the long game. We’re growing our past performance record, deepening our agency relationships, and positioning for larger and more complex contracts. The foundation is solid, and we’re just getting started.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Honestly, I’d say the biggest thing that’s worked for me is being intentional about who I let into my circle.

I’ve been fortunate to have real mentors in my corner. Dr. Curtis Merriweather Jr. has been a tremendous resource — he operates at the intersection of entrepreneurship, aerospace, defense, and government contracting, so he understands the space I’m building in at a deep level. Having someone who’s already navigating that world and willing to share what they know is invaluable.

I’ve also leaned heavily on the SBDC — the Small Business Development Center program through Florida Atlantic University. A lot of entrepreneurs overlook free resources like that, and they shouldn’t. The guidance, accountability, and access you get through programs like SBDC can be the difference between spinning your wheels and actually moving forward.

My advice for finding a mentor? Don’t wait for someone to volunteer. Be direct, be specific about what you’re looking for, and show up prepared. Nobody wants to mentor someone who isn’t serious. And don’t overlook free public resources — SBDC, SCORE, SBA — they exist for a reason.

Networking-wise, I’ve found that genuine relationships matter far more than collecting contacts. In federal contracting especially, people work with who they trust. So I focus on showing up with value, being reliable, and letting the work speak.
