I came to this country 15 years ago without knowing any English, but I firmly believed that hard work could lead to achieving anything. It took me a long time to figure out exactly what I wanted to do, but I always knew that I enjoyed helping others and making them happy. From the very first day at esthetic school, I realized that I had found my true passion.
I dedicated five years of my career to working at a medspa, gaining valuable experience and knowledge. However, I eventually reached a point where I felt it was time to venture out on my own. I decided to leave the security of a 9-5 job and embrace the opportunity to work tirelessly, 24/7, but with a newfound sense of fulfillment and joy.
My approach as an aesthetician leans more towards the medical side rather than providing purely relaxing treatments. This is because my passion lies in being a results-driven professional. I derive immense satisfaction from helping my clients address their skin problems, which may have been causing them social distress or discomfort with their self-image.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I did not have a mentor or anyone to rely on or ask questions when I first started my journey. I had to learn everything by myself, and naturally, I made mistakes along the way. While esthetic school provided me with a foundation of basic knowledge, once you graduate, you’re essentially on your own. The door closes, and it can be quite intimidating.
The fear of not being able to answer clients’ questions or choosing the wrong treatment can be overwhelming. However, I believe that it is through these challenges and experiences that we grow and become better professionals. Each mistake is an opportunity to learn and improve, and I have embraced this mindset throughout my career.
I am constantly seeking to expand my knowledge and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field of aesthetics. This dedication allows me to provide the best possible care and guidance to my clients, ensuring that their concerns are addressed and their treatments are tailored to their specific needs.
