Community Highlights: Meet Andrea Plazas of greeng juice & acai

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Plazas

Hi Andrea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
2013 We became health coaches and got training from the Gerson institute on juicing and medicinal foods ( a well known cancer therapy center in San Diego california)
2014 We designed and created our menu recipes and sold our cold pressed juices to gyms as pop ups
2015 We open our first store in edgewater miami
2024 We open our second store in Miracle Mile Coral Gables

We are 3 siblings. Andrea Diana and David.
Andrea 34- Im a psychologist, health coach & parent coach. I started my first business GreenG at 24. Mom of two and married to the coolest husband and dad.
Diana 42- Graphic designer, Realtor and Entrepreneur. She started her fitness journey 13 years ago and until today that her passion. Mom of one

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Ups and downs- Back in 2013 our industry was just emerging people didn’t really know what cold pressed juice vs centrifugal or HPP juice really meant. Acai Bowls were not really known and people did not know the power of superfoods. All this led to smooth road.

2020 A lot of competition and bigger brands coming in like Joe and The juice, Dr. Smood and later on Pura Vida. We are a family own and run business and we had to learn it all. People wanted to buy us but they wanted us to change our methods. Industrialized HPP cold pressed and Scoopable and sorbet acai had higher profits but to us it meant not doing what we love. The whole reason for doing acai hand crafted and cold pressed juice in house was for our own kids and ourselves to get quality made to order products without the added processes.

Scoopable acai and sorbet acai have added sugars, emulsifiers and preservatives to make it look like ice cream. Do you really want to eat ice cream every day after a workout? or drink a juice that has a 3-6 month shelf life? No right? Well that’s why you have Green G Juice & Acai.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about greeng juice & acai ?

No business background, very young all of us my sister 32, my brother 20 and mussel 24, and a concept no one really understood or see value in back in 2013. We took the money we had at hand and went all in since day one from baristas to cashiers to menu recipes costing inventory and managing now 2 stores. Did we know a bit about what we were doing no but we really wanted to show our community that food can be simple delicious and nutritious.
