Hi Amanda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always had a knack for thrifting and repurposing vintage pieces. When the pandemic hit hard the beginning of this year, I was laid off from my marketing job and like everyone else I was trying to figure out what’s the next best move. I knew at this point it was time to focus on something I truly loved which is how Forty4 Threads was created. My hobby for having an eye for vintage finds was something I thought I can turn into a real business and show other woman to deviate from your everyday trends and typical fashion finds that you see in modern day retailers.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As exciting as it has been to go through this journey it definitely has its challenges along the way. Now that I am back at work juggling a full-time job and my own business at the same time, it can get tough. My days off have become Forty4 Threads work days which means spending hours to find thrifted goods. Some days I can come out with bags of clothes and others I’ll spend five to six hours jumping from store to store to come out with one to two pieces. It can get frustrating to do everything on your own but when all is said and done it’s beyond rewarding.
