Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocio Castro-Videla.
Rocio, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started making videos around 5 years ago through YouTube and Instagram before getting into TikTok. I originally went to college to become a doctor but after 3 years into my Neuroscience & Behavior Bachelor’s degree I did a switch into Marketing and never looked back. They say marketing is like the psychology of business and I couldn’t agree more. I love to see what inspires people and also be a source of inspiration for others.
After getting my first job as a Marketing Coordinator at Conde Nast, I worked there for a year 1/2 before moving on to UGC creation and freelancing my social media management skills. At the time I also noticed how much the gym helped my mental health and it inspired me to begin making videos on different forms of therapy and how moving your body can help. I later received my personal training certificate from NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and continued my journey as a personal trainer at Equinox.
After about 7 months, I decided marketing was truly my passion so I left Equinox, and began to work with a boutique agency in Boca Raton. I worked with them for about a year and 3 months. I am now a freelance content creator/social media manager and continue to do UGC on the side.
The one thing that has stayed consistent for me has been my love of content creation, video editing, and sharing my journey with others in hopes to help and inspire those around me. I am currently documenting my journey with the gym, as well as going through career and life changes being a girl in her 20’s. I hope to continue working with amazing brands, as I have done in the past, and continue to help bring those around me to a healthier and happier state in life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth roads never make for a great story! There have definitely been some struggles along the way but I don’t regret any of them.
One of the biggest struggles I had to face was when I was living in Miami and had about $3 to my name. This was such a humbling and terrifying experience but it truly taught me so much about myself and how strong I can be. If you have dedication and passion for something, nothing can stop you from being successful. Even in the darkest moments you must believe in yourself and give it up to God because the universe always has your back. Everything happens for you, never against you.
I have also had to struggle with intense anxiety, but through therapy, prayer, and the gym I can happily say I haven’t had any anxiety attacks in almost 2 years!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a bilingual UGC (user generated content) Creator and Social Media Manager. I help brands bring their vision to life through content creation whether it is photo or video. I also specialize in social media management where I help brands grow online through content strategy and visuals.
What I find sets me apart from others is my raw and authentic personal videos on Instagram and TikTok. I document my journey through all aspects of life: mental health, career changes, lifestyle habits, and beauty trends. With mental health I share my experience with therapy, self help, and finding ways to be happy with yourself. In my (NASM Certified) gym content I educate people on what works best, not only for results but also to lead a fit and active lifestyle. My goal is to always be honest with my audience and provide the help I wish I had when I needed it most.
I have worked with some amazing brands in the past such as: PRADA Beauty, Printify, MiniBeast Gymwear, Armani Beauty, Mighty Spark (and so many more). I have even been interviewed by TechCrunch for my Spanish speaking GRWM videos! I truly am most proud of how much I have grown and can’t wait to see what the future has in store.
What makes you happy?
Seeing others overcome a struggle, especially if I was able to help them/walk them through the process.
Life is such a beautiful blessing that I don’t think many of us acknowledge in our busy day-to-day so witnessing someone turn their life around for the better makes me appreciate my own life even more. Seeing how God/the universe works for us individually makes everything feel so special and the happiness shining from others always makes me feel warm inside.
Other honorable mentions to what make me happy 🙂
– The gym because I feel GREAT after a good workout
– Coffee… my side hobby I do for myself at home
– Walks in nature
