Hi Michelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
If you would’ve told me 7 years ago that I’d be leading one of Central Florida’s largest event coordinating teams, I probably would’ve laughed, but like many great stories, mine didn’t start with a blueprint.
I started in the event industry almost by accident, planning a wedding and realizing I had a knack for logistics, details, and creating unforgettable moments. One event turned into five, five turned into a fully booked calendar, and before I knew it, SMS Events & Designs was born.
In the early days, it was just me, a few pink clipboards, and a whole lot of hustle. Now, 7 years in, The Ladies in Pink have grown into a powerhouse team coordinating over 300+ events a year across Florida. We’ve become known for our high-energy, client-focused approach and for running event days like a well-oiled machine.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t been picture-perfect. There were definitely growing pains, long nights, and moments of wondering if I was completely out of my mind. But every challenge pushed me to grow as a businesswoman, a leader, and a creative. Today, I’m so proud to say we’re not just doing events, we’re setting the standard.
From the beginning, I’ve seen this as a company, not just a small business and that perspective has shaped every decision I’ve made. Scaling while maintaining a high-touch, personalized client experience hasn’t been easy. There were learning curves and many late nights spent refining systems and retraining processes to make sure every client received the same level of attention and magic no matter which coordinator from our team showed up.
I’ve had moments of doubt, wondering if I could maintain the heart of the business while growing its reach. But through those challenges, I’ve learned how to lead with both vision and intention.

At SMS Events & Designs also known as The Ladies in Pink, we specialize in event day coordination across Central Florida and beyond. Whether we’re managing timelines, transforming venues, or making sure Grandma’s in the right seat before the ceremony starts, we do it all with heart, hustle, and a serious eye for detail.
We’re known for our signature pink, our high-energy approach, and the calm, confident way we run event days behind the scenes. Our goal is simple: allow our couples to be fully present, soak in the joy, and actually enjoy their wedding day while we handle the logistics like pros.
What fills me with the most pride without question is my incredible team. They are the heart of this company and the reason we’re able to coordinate over 300 events a year without ever compromising the client experience. What truly sets us apart is how intentional we are. From our badass Operations Manager, Caleigh, to our newest assistant coordinators just stepping into the field, every team member is trained to be a proactive problem-solver who leads with kindness, confidence, and precision. They don’t just follow timelines they anticipate needs, stay three steps ahead, and bring calm to the chaos, all while making each couple feel like they’re our one and only.
A lot of people can run an event or wedding. Not everyone can anticipate needs before they happen, guide a clients through the nerves, and make 100+ guests feel taken care of all while smiling and being kind and approachable, That’s the difference.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
SMS Events & Designs plans to continue expanding our market reach throughout Florida and beyond with new locations on the horizon. We’re passionate about finding meaningful ways to serve our community, from creating opportunities for hospitality students to gain real-world experience, to giving back in ways that make a lasting impact.
As we grow, we’re committed to staying accessible to all clients because every couple deserves an incredible experience, regardless of budget or background. Looking ahead, we see the wedding industry shifting toward more personalized, intentional celebrations where couples lead with authenticity. While tech may continue to streamline planning, the magic still lies in human connection and thoughtful execution. We’re not just building a business we’re building something meaningful. The Ladies in Pink move with heart, lead with care, and we’re just getting started.
