Check Out Grace Galera’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Galera.

Hi Grace, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started with my oldest daughter’s first attempt at making sourdough bread. She had made her own starter, and I remember asking her all kinds of questions about sourdough and why she was so interested in it. She told me how it was one of the healthiest breads, and I was curious right away. Long story short, after one week she baked her first loaf… and it came out like a frisbee.

That was the moment my interest was sparked. I thought to myself, bread cannot be that hard to make. Little did I know, I was about to go all the way down the sourdough rabbit hole.

I started doing intense research and development, learning everything I could. My own starter took about a month before it was finally ready to bake with. I was also blessed with help from a friend whose cousin had a 7-year-old starter, and that only fueled my passion even more.

The moment I began mixing flour, water, and salt, something in me fell in love with the process of making artisan bread. There is something so therapeutic about the stretch and folds, the shaping, and watching each loaf come to life. I especially loved getting creative with inclusions and flavors. From Jalapeño Cheddar, Italian Herb & Asiago, Dirty Martini, and Cinnamon Brown Sugar, to bagels, scones, and so much more, the possibilities felt endless. I truly went sourdough crazy, and my passion only kept growing.

What started as baking for family and friends slowly turned into something bigger. Over time, so many people encouraged me to start selling my bread. A year later, I stepped out in faith and decided to bring my sourdough to farmers markets. That is how Craave House was born.

Craave House is more than just a bakery to us. We are a faith-driven, family-run business. Our faith is at the center of what we do, and we truly believe this journey was placed on our hearts for a reason. My family plays a big part in this business, from helping behind the scenes to showing up and selling alongside me at markets. It has become something we build together, and that makes it even more special.

As we have grown, so has our menu. In addition to our sourdough breads and baked goods, we now also offer coffee, which has brought another layer of warmth and connection to the Craave House experience.

Today, we sell our sourdough products and coffee throughout South Florida. You can find us at markets in Miami, Coral Gables, Palmetto Bay, Cooper City, Islamorada, Doral, and Cutler Bay.

One of the greatest joys for me is seeing the happiness on our customers’ faces when they come to buy their favorite sourdough goodies or enjoy a coffee from us. Craave House has given me so much purpose, joy, and gratitude, and I am so thankful for how far this journey has come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is such a high demand for sourdough bread. That I can’t seem to bake enough for customers. It always breaks my heart when someone comes for their favorite loaf and we are all out.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets us apart from others is the simple fact that we are not ashamed to share the gossip. Our logo has a bible verse on it. When customers ask or those that know the verse opens the conversation to spread the goodness of God. As I mentioned before he is the center of this business. Due to him we have been successful.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Entrepreneurship is not for the weak of heart. Be 1000% sure that is the path you want to take. Have your niche build your plan and execute.
