Today we’d like to introduce you to Keadi-Ann Williams
Hi Keadi-Ann, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. When I was in high school, I asked my parents for a loan of $60.00. My Dad took me to BJ’s, where I purchased several bags of bulk candy. I flipped that candy and made a profit. I learned about business from my parents at an early stage. I knew it took a lot of hard work, but I was always intrigued about having my own. While in college I had a job making less than minimum wage. It was so frustrating. I knew I had to do something. I managed to save up $500.00. In those days that was a lot of money! I wanted to do something to change my situation. One of things I love are bags. I happened to be going to New York for a family trip and while there I purchased some high quality purses in the fashion district of New York. I remember being on the plane thinking, “did I waste my money?” I didn’t have much product but the quality was excellent. When I got off the flight, I decided to go to a friend’s home. She worked for the Ritz Carlton and She always loved and wore beautiful purses. My first sale was a suede and leather Burgundy bag, which I sold for $250.00. The look on her face when she saw it was like Christmas Day. That ignited a flame in me like you wouldn’t believe. That’s when “Bagladykd” was born. This was the name of my business when I first started. Years later, I needed something more polished and that’s when I changed it to “Kdez Closet.” From 2009 to 2012, I moved to Georgia. I needed a change in my life. At this time I was working in the insurance field and I remember having a huge desk. I turned my area into a store, literally! The ladies and gentlemen would come to my desk to shop. Every drawer had accessories in it and under my desk were bags. I camouflaged each drawer with a sliding tray of office supplies. Word spread around the office like a wildfire . Even manager’s and supervisor’s were buying from me. It was the greatest feeling in the world. I had no idea where this business was going to take me, but I knew I had something special. The apartment building I lived in had a really nice conference room and I use to have a pop-up shop once a month. I would advertise online, the mail room and to my co-workers. Every penny I made was poured back into my business. My business is much more than an online boutique. Several services are also offered, such as , closet organization, personal shopping , styling and my favorite extreme makeovers. The makeovers hold a special place in my heart. It helps a person to transform from the inside out. It’s a beautiful and personal experience. I am happy to say that Kdez Closet is always evolving.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the struggles I had were major surgeries. I also suffered from severe anemia. At one point my count was so low I passed out a few times. It made it very hard for me to work. Not being able to be In control of your body can be hard for a person. I also was plagued with fibroids . One of the surgeries alone removed 12 of them from my body. The healing was hard! but I had a great support system from my family and close friends. I was also involved in a car accident in which a gentleman hit someone and trying to run from the scene, hit me. The next day I woke up and could not move my left arm. The pain was so extreme I had to get a cortisone shot in my back to alleviate the pain. I was unable to work for seven weeks. Every time I went through a hurdle, God was there to carry me every step of the way. Without Him, I am nothing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have my certification for a few states to do claims adjusting. I also have a degree in Graphic Design Technology which helps me greatly with my business. Some people live their entire lives and have no idea what they want to do. God blessed me with many talents and I am so grateful.
What are your plans for the future?
I am looking forward to becoming the best version of myself. I have a lot to learn and I look forward to the growth especially as a person and my business. I just launched my own line of vegan lip gloss called ” Kdez lips.” I am excited about what is coming. I have a few more surprises in store, but you have to stay tuned.
