Check out Jared Schwalb’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Schwalb.

Jared, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
It all started with a coloring book…I’m serious!!!! Always loved the artistic world but never really participated in it aside from collecting. A couple of years back after my stepmother had purchased some adult coloring books for my kids and my wife I decided to get one. Couldn’t put the pencils down, literally had blisters on my fingers. Decided to indulge more and purchased some canvases and paint.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I can’t tell you all my secrets lol…. I’m actually an open book. I like to create pieces that people will recognize something that I also can identify with. Every work is different, inspiration comes from all over the place not one thing specifically. Once I have an idea in my head I like to do some research on the subject matter to learn things I didn’t know before. The most enjoyable part of the process for me is learning something new each time. I spend a lot of time looking through old magazines, and at antique malls for some interesting medium for the background. Sometimes I get side tracked after I see something not related to the specific work I am focused on and start another piece simultaneously. That actually happens most of the time. I want my collectors to be able to get lost in mywork and see something new each time they look at the work. I tend to hide things in the work etc. and love when I get a call or an email telling me that they discovered it. I love textures but
I also love the flatness of a modern acrylic mount so I try to create texture visually without actually having it…. u know what I mean?
Art is art… It’s everywhere in so many different forms everywhere I look. I really want people to be able to have a small piece of what’s in my mind or how I visually see something on their wall. Whatever that looks like but again as I always say it’s not what I see in my work but what I make you see and for everyone that is different. Art evokes emotion or at least that’s what I think it should do and everyone identifies differently. What I may feel may not be what someone else feels so I let my collectors create a relationship with the work that they see fit.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I think the role has always been the same. Artists play an important role in our modern lives in that we express individuality, creativity and feeling. It is what visually enhances our world and our lives. Art is about connecting with people’s emotions. It’s personal and at the same time universal.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have work in galleries across the world. Still blows my mind when I say that. On my website www.vehementart.com there is a list of galleries, installations, and shows. Honestly, social media is a big part of it as well. It’s an incredible tool to reach people globally that wasn’t possible years ago.
