Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabio Kotinda.
Fabio, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
There were many paths taken until my decision for “the art of interpreting the moment” through apparently diverse directions, such as engineering and fashion. I began playing with the lenses in 1996 during an undergraduate Design course, where I enrolled after quitting an engineer career. At that time, I used to travel with a camera and a tripod in my backpack seeking the best angle and the beauty of an unexpected moment for pure pleasure.
From 2001 to 2008 I had roles as a partner and creative Director at Designers Associados, Sopa Comunicação and Client By, design agencies where I acquired important skills such as expert eyes, sharp vision and the ability to identify a good image. These materials gave me a strong identity in my clicks.
However, it was on a trip to New York in early 2008 that I decided to focus on photography as a profession. In 2012, I lived and worked at Madrid, Spain. Where I shoot fashion and commercial jobs. Also, I clicked fashion editorials and advertising campaigns in Paris and New York.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create photos and video contents for clients all around the world. And I try to feature my signature in artistic works that captures the attention and instigate the senses “A photo brings the power to capture a moment and to transmit to people an emotion so they can stop and spend some time admiring a picture. A photo that is not able to be admired is not transmitting anything. “ The freedom to create is the key connection between me and photography.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Hard work and perseverance. Never give up and stay true to yourself and your work.
