Art & Life with Sophia Vigne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Vigne.

Sophia, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My school years were challenging for me. Diagnosed with Dyslexia, my parents decided to homeschool me. Because of homeschooling, I was able to invest my time into advanced art classes, and have one on one attention on my academics. Thanks to my parents’ dedication and the freedom homeschooling gave me I was able to pursue my dream to become an artist.

At a young age, I was able to take advanced art classes at Burlini Studio of the Arts under Chris Burlini, and advanced drawing classes at FATvillige Center for the arts under Daina Stabulnience. At age 12, My artwork was featured at the Cornell Art Museum in Delray Beach, at age 14 my art was displayed at Spanish River library in Boca Raton, I was also invited to the Delray Beach Art Gallery to do live painting and feature my art.

Last year, I participated in the 31ST Annual Boca Fest, I won second place at the 9th annual Boca Raton Fine Art Show budding artist completion 2018. This year I attended the 32nd Annual Boca Fest, The 30th Annual Downtown Delray Beach Festival of the Arts, and Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Art Fest by the Sea at Juno Beach, and I am looking forward to my trip to Florence this summer where I have been accepted into the Florence Academy.

After I graduated from High school, I decided to pursue my dreams and started my own business. I want to make art reachable to everyone, because of that reason, I decided to create Art’s In You, a step-by-step mobile paint social art party. My mother and I are partners in this business; we bring our painting parties to the community. My method of teaching makes it easy for everyone to finish a lovely masterpiece. I have worked with special need kids, Nursing homes, Retirement communities, Corporate accounts, and others. My goal is to make art accessible to everyone. With God’s help, I hope my art one day helps me accomplish my dreams.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
As I grew up in Boca Raton living 10 minutes away from the beach, I found myself somewhere near the ocean every day mesmerized by the water and boats of the seas. As I grew more and more attached to the boats on the warm salty water of Gods Ocean, I founded myself painting my first series of rustic boats.

Using oils and the pallet knives, months at a time I painted the salty waters and rustic boats one by one on each canvas. Through my series of boats, I want to show the workmanship of an artist. After finishing my first series, I decided to create something different. I started a new series of abstract paintings; in my abstract paintings, you can find excitement, tranquility, secret passages, waterfalls, lakes, and hidden sailboats.

With the use of the pallet knife, I add lots of texture in my paintings, sometimes using soothing colors, and sometimes adding vibrant colors depending on the mood I am at the moment. Through my art, I want to express my emotions, my sensitivity, and my passion for my surroundings.

What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
As artists, we have to change based on the culture and the world’s needs constantly, we are a vehicle for expressing a variety of emotions, we use our paints and brushes to tell stories, some of our stories help alleviate problems faced by others.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
People can find my work in my website www.artbysophiavigne.com

Instagram, and Facebook. I am always posting where I am going to be displaying my art.

The way to support my artwork is by inviting me to display my art to private showings, galleries, fundraisers, hotels, telling friends and family about my art and my workshops.
