For producer and DJ Senpai Stephen, everything traces back to a life‑changing moment at Tomorrowland in Medellín—an experience that sparked his passion for electronic music and set him on the path behind the decks. Drawing inspiration from artists like ANNA, Argy, and Vintage Culture, his sound has evolved from melodic techno into a versatile mix that spans house, tech house, tribal, and minimal grooves. After building momentum through shows across Florida and festival afterparties, Stephen is now stepping into a bigger chapter—releasing new music, collaborating with Seventh Circle, and setting his sights on the global festival stage that first inspired him.
Stephen, for those just discovering your sound, can you share a bit about your background, early influences, and the artists or moments that shaped you as a producer and DJ?
My background in edm and djing actually doesn’t go back too far. I discovered my passion for this music and lifestyle when I travelled to Medellin Colombia for their very first tomorrowland. Not only was the experience magical, but it also changed my perspective on life for the better. This was the beginning of my music career. Early influences that i found inspirational and that have shaped me are ANNA, Argy, and Vintage Culture.
With several releases and bookings coming up, what can fans expect from your upcoming music and live shows this year?
I have went from playing local shows across St. Petersburg and Tampa, to afters for festivals such as EDC Orlando and even clubs in Miami such as M2. My heart and vision for the future is for the big stage. I have been manifesting a full circle moment and playing at my first musical festival, Tomorrowland in Medellin, Colombia.
How would you describe your current sound, and what kinds of tracks or energy are you most excited to play out right now?
My sound has definitely changed over time. I started with a more melodic techno sound, to a more minimal house sound. However, I would say I have a wide range of music I like to play, including techno, melodic techno, house, tech house, tribal and minimal.
What’s your perspective on the current state of house, techno, and the broader electronic music scene, and where do you see it heading?
I think that’s hard to say, considering it includes such a wide range of music. When looking for new music, it seems like there is an infinite amount of music being produced across all genres. I would say it’s constantly growing and always evolving, and I hope to be a part of that.
Why did you choose to partner with Seventh Circle, and what are your long-term goals as an artist?
I chose to partner with Seventh Circle for a few reasons. The short answer is that they reached out to me after hearing my sound and believed that I have the potential to reach my music aspirations working together. It feels like the right choice.
My long-term goals are to not only constantly grow in music, but also as a person. I really do envision myself on the big stage and even have dreams of getting on the stage of the festival that began my career in music, Tomorrowland.
