Meet Prana Branstetter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Prana Branstetter.

Prana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began to be involved in the Arts at a young age. I have videos of me dancing from the age of four, in Bogota, Colombia. I attended Art schools while growing up in West Palm Beach, FL. The schools I attended were: U.B.Kinsey Palmview Elementary School of Arts, Bak Middle School of Arts and A.W. Dreyfoos High School of Arts. My majors in school were Communications, which ranged from Speech, Debate and Photography, to Anchoring on TV and Film. I also studied Journalism and Graphic Design and took Dance as an elective.

Outside of attending school, I took various courses like Piano, Singing, Guitar and most recently taught myself the Ukulele. I was always interested in Music and one day had an epiphany after attending Palm Beach State College (For my AA). I had just begun my Bachelor’s Degree at Florida Atlantic University. I was studying English and Business Law, after switching my Major three times! I saw a Miami DJ and felt so inspired! I knew at that moment that it was my “calling.” The next day I met a good friend, who taught me the basics of Djing.

From then on, I grew and grew and today, I have Dj-ed for many venues and events. I have tons of experience from West Palm Beach to Miami, FL. Playing for Corporate Events, Clubs, Bars, Private Parties, Gyms, Birthdays, Weddings, Community Events, Restaurants, Retail Stores, Casinos and even Churches has taught me a lot. I have played along with Saxophonists, Electrical Violinists, Keytar and Flute Players, as well as by Dancers and Singers. One of my favorite events was playing in South Beach Miami for a Miami Swim Week Rooftop Corporate Event.

I am always researching new music and preparing myself differently for every set. Today, I have all my own equipment and consider myself a mobile DJ. I am now a Resident DJ for the new Guitar Shaped, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL. Prior to Djing full-time, I worked in Marketing and Sales, and with this experience have been able to market myself and feel blessed to pass on opportunities to very talented friends as well. While I am looking forward to the future, I know that Djing is my passion and I am currently working on Music Production, due to Covid-19.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Life has its ups and downs. There are always going to be challenges, especially when pursuing an Artistic Field. As a Female DJ, we sometimes get underestimated because most people have never seen a female DJ. I took business classes and learned about negotiating, communicating and contracts. All of which helped me one way or another during my journey. There is always room for growth in this field and every day. I am trying to be better. Learning music-related programs, buying equipment, and practice is something you never stop doing.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a professional Female DJ. Being fluent in Spanish and English helps me reach a large audience. I specialize in House music but play open-format. I can rock any type of party. I feel the utmost happiness and gratitude when I look out to see the audience dancing to the beats of my music!

What sets me apart from others is the vibe that I bring to a party. I make every event unique and have created a good name for myself in the industry. I have partnered with some exceptional companies, and as my DJ profile continues to rise, I look forward to the future!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Good luck has been after me since day one! Truthfully, to me, it’s a blessing more than luck. From the beginning, I found myself at the right place at the right time all the time! It really isn’t until now that the pandemic has really had an impact on not only my life and business but many others’.
