Meet Pamela Ravelo of Imperfectly Perfect in Doral

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Ravelo.

Pamela, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hey! My name is Pamela Ravelo of Imperfectly Perfect, an Afro Latina from the Dominican Republic, entrepreneur, and curly hair enthusiast. Everything started a couple of years ago when I lived in Santo Domingo and my heart told me there was something better for my future. I had the opportunity to work in various areas for Design and Social Media and other areas of Marketing that allowed me to see the value in telling my stories through images and attractive designs for a specific audience. I always had a passion for Social Media but I would not share my personal life back then.

At the end of 2017, I moved to Miami, FL, where I started to care for my natural hair and dropped the old habit of using straightening chemicals, flat irons, or hair dryers in order to grow my naturally curly hair. This is how Imperfectly Perfect was born. A blog for women and men with curly hair, entrepreneurs in search of information about how to manage and understand their natural hair, making homemade masks, taking on personal care, and Instagram strategies.

The transition was hard, but it helped me accept and love myself with all my flaws in order to focus on my qualities as a person and understand that I have much more to offer and teach, while sharing my journey through social media. The transition made me realize of the power that my story has to inspire and motivate women like myself to learn to accept our “imperfections” in order to be able to focus ourselves on our goals and values for the future.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is easy, especially when starting from zero. The determination and the passion that you have for your personal project will say how far you’ll get. If you have a dream, work for it. The projects usually demand money and if at first, you have to work a 9 to 5 to be able to pay rent while you work on your project in your personal/free time, I encourage you to do so!

In my case the organization strategy has been a vital part during this transition for me. Nothing is born overnight, but if you add a grain every day working towards it, any dream can be achieved.
