Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Blemur.
Naomi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am an author, coach, and businesswoman, born in Miami, FL, raised in Brooklyn, NY. My passion for helping others find their purpose has led me down a path less traveled, albeit an amazing and rewarding journey. An overcomer in every sense of the word, I lost both parents by the age of eighteen and still found the grit to raise my three younger siblings, the youngest, a child with special needs.
A proud product of Haitian immigrants, I deviated from their desire of me becoming a nurse, to charting my own course in business management. This one decision, along with my faith, catapulted me to the woman I am today. A world traveler, I’ve had the privilege of studying Business in the European Union in France, Business Management & Marketing in Spain, Language & Culture in Italy and Accounting & Economics in the United States.
My work experience stretches from fortune 500 companies in retail, fashion design, and commercial banking. After living a fulfilling life in the Big Apple, I traded my single New York life, for family life, in the quaint city of North Miami. Marrying a great visionary and author, I embraced his mission and concept of “A Balanced Life”. Collectively, we have built a lifestyle brand that coaches others on how to balance four aspects of their life: education, emotion, spirituality, and finance. We believe, though this process, one can achieve sustainable success.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been very bumpy, to say the least. One of the basic challenges is first, overcoming “self”. Your own voice telling you, “no, you can’t do this”. “That idea will never work”. Or the best one of all, “you need to get some things together first”. My response is – “the right or perfect person does not exist and you will never have everything together”. You must take a leap of faith. Period. As you walk towards your dream, every resource, and skill that you need to make it a reality will naturally come to you. Moreover, only you can do what you were born to do. Nobody else. Yes, you, with your flaws and all. You are the man or the woman for the job, not your neighbor.
Then, once you have finally won that battle, you must then overcome “people”. That can be the most challenging because validation and applause is a significant part of the human experience. Nevertheless, you must put it in its right perspective. Your attitude or point of view should be – fulfilling my purpose is paramount because this is what I was born to do. Thus, I am going to fulfill it first, and then, I will deal with people, their responses and or reactions later.
We’d love to hear more about your organization.
Balancing Life is a 501(c)3 nonprofit established to connect and empower success through academic, spiritual, emotional and financial balance. We coach others on how to balance their lives through our four pillars and gain sustainable success. As an organization, we have three distinct arms that provide innovative solutions to our community and beyond:
Pearls of Wisdom is a global women’s network with a mission to assist its members in finding their voice. Since its launch at South Beach Mondrian Hotel, in 2017, we’ve gone on to honor and celebrate the achievements of 23 women in South Florida (in the areas of medicine, law, and media, to name a few) and of 3 exemplary, community-centered corporations. These honorees have received the STAR award during our annual retreat & luncheon, which has become a premier event for women, family & friends.
Vessels of Honor is a unique Life Skills mentoring program for youths ages 13-18, with a great opportunity to explore language and culture abroad. Our newly added, Balancing Life Workspace is leading the way as North Miami’s 1st coworking space. This community hub offers flexible and affordable options for locals and is conveniently located downtown, minutes from city hall. Its bold and creative style is perfectly designed for freelancers, startups, creatives, and everyone in-between. To learn more about our workspace and how to host your next event there, visit our site at www.Blworkspaces.com.
Currently, our coworking community includes several businesses: a real-estate broker, a Caribbean cosmetic line, a non-profit start-up, a stylist and my boutique firm – BL Consulting, which provides accounting, tax preparation, branding & marketing solutions for businesses and public figures.
What were you like growing up?
I was an outgoing child who was always in hair and clothes. I was a sharp and witty girl who enjoyed reading and language arts. I grew up with strong family values and a strict routine, which included three things: school, church, and home.
As one of seven children, our home was a lively one (there was never a dull moment). We were a big family, everyone had an opinion, and you were free to share it. No one ever stopped you from speaking your mind. Now, how my mother responded to you speaking your mind, was a whole other story; nevertheless, everyone got the opportunity to speak. Looking back, this also shaped the woman that I’ve become today. I am never afraid to speak up or speak out, regardless of what others may think or say. I own my voice and live in my truth.
