Meet Michelle Cameron of Tattoos by Lou

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Cameron.

Michelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Tattoos by Lou was founded by my father Lou Sciberras in Queens, NY in 1970. In 1986 the 1st Tattoos by Lou opened in Miami Dade, in what is known today as Cutler Ridge. That location was destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in 1992. I came to Miami and starting working with my father in 1988. I did everything in the studio from sweeping the floors, cleaning the toilets, to selling tattoos. In 1996 my father past away. With my husband we continued to build the Tattoos by Lou name.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Has it been easy for you? Overall, what have been some of the biggest challenges?

1/ No one likes to be told what to do by a woman
2/ Tattoo artist do not like to listen to anyone that is not an artist
3/ It is a very tough industry

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tattoos by Lou story. Tell us more about the business.
Tattoos by Lou is Miami’s oldest tattoo studio. We have been serving the Miami area for 31. We specialize in high quality tattooing and body piercing. We care about our clients, we want our clients to be proud of the tattoos they wear from Tattoos by Lou. Un-like a lot of tattoo studios that are here today gone tomorrow.
